Should I go to the midnight launch of Halo 3?
« on: September 23, 2007, 11:26:46 PM »
At first I thought it would be interesting and fun, but then I realized that the people in attendance would basically be the same douchebags that scream and yelp on XBL.  When Burning Crusade launched it was kind of fun just to see the wide array of people that showed up (middle aged nurses, roofing contractors, parents and kids that both play).....whereas I'm assuming this affair will be a bit more on the superdorky side.

I hadn't had a second thought about it, but now with the hysteria over the CE scratched disks I think I might just want to skip the whole thing.  Of course showing up Tuesday morning all they'll have left is the scratched shit the midnight mouthbreathers rejected, but whatever.  I'll take a refund/downgrade for the regular version.

How big a nerd are you?  That's all you need to ask yourself...can you wait or not?

I went to the Halo 2 midnight launch and it absolutely was not worth it.  I got home and had no time to play it anyway.

This is pretty much why I will just be picking up my copy Wednesday aftr work.

Now if it would have released this past >Saturday night< at midnight - that may have been cool - but Tuesday night ? hahah no.

You really have to wonder why these companies DON'T do weekend launches.  Halo 3 has been sitting in stores for weeks; it's not like this would be difficult.  Just make it available to pre-orders only which is probably what they're doing anyway.  :P

I don't get my copy of Halo 3 until thursday.  It will be the exact opposite of the States, where I walk into the store and get a limited edition copy with no problems, because no one could give a fuck about Halo in Japan.  I did reserve a copy just in case the LEs run out though, since they are the same price as the regular edition here.

I find myself strangely unhyped for this game.  I know I'm going to enjoy it, but I'm not the least bit excited for it.  I guess maybe the demo did that to me.

I went at 5:30 to pay it off.  Went back at 9:30 to "cash out".  Waited longer to cash out then I did to get the game, btw.  I waited about 20 minutes to cash out.

I showed back up around 11:45 to get my game.  I was back in my truck at 12:06 on my way home.  They had a DJ and food.

Cash out?
yeah, literally check out so that at midnight you can get in the line to just pick up your copy instead of going to the register.

so i got fucked over last night, 7-11 didn't deliver at midnight as promised.  so i woke up this morning and hit up fry's at 8am.  holy shit there were a fuck ton of legendary editions.  i'm thinking of grabbing one during lunch just to flip it.  anyhow, me and a friend decided to roll through to a local gamestop and were surprised to see the line wrapping around the mall.  it was some bizarre shit, MS is stupid if they don't make a halo 4....  this shit literally prints money.

i hear it's a great package... one of my friends kept raving about it, and he's not even a hardcore halo fan.

That's what they did here. I just walked in, asked if they had any LEs, the guy said he stopped taking reserves for that at 11 (he never said whether they had any left or not) and I just paid for it and went back to the line. I was only there for an hour.
