This has become the norm for Nintendo consoles.  Few releases worth getting, too many releases spaced apart, and then after a few years, the competition dominates it and N-Tards eagerly await getting fucked in the ass by the next Nintendo system:

Nintendo 64 is released.  People buy it for Mario.  Then there's Wave Race, Star Fox, Goldeneye, Zelda, Zelda MM, and...uh...uhm, hmm...uh...Donkey...Kong?  But this system sucked from the start, so whatever.

The Game Cube!  Yeah, this is more like it...Nintendo has caught up with everyone else.  Oh, but then around 2003 it pretty much dies.  At least we got two good years out of it and more software worth getting than the shitty N64!

Wow, you really saw that? I would have loved to be there-sounds even worse than the harry potter folk I had to deal with when picking up a midnight-opening of the last book for my wife (who consumes all pulp fantasy in the same way I consume bearded man strategy games). they had the little harry potter scar magic marker'd on their babies' foreheads and were in full loser regalia. SNES I got because it was the fucking SNES.  N64 I got because my friends and I would go to each other's houses like every day and play split-screen games so I figured it's a good idea to also get it and share controllers.  GCN I got because I liked N64 (thought not obsessed with the franchises) but very quickly started to also like the xbox that gen.  Waggle I got for who the fuck knows what reason.  I already had a 360 and I didn't want a PS3 but I figured it's good to get two systems.

I can't help but think that the DS/Wii ninthing fanaticism is at least partially due to the rejection of modern game design elements (and no, waggle is not a design element of a game, only an interface enabler) by the same fans.
