Wow, the GFW version of Sega Rally Revo is such a superior edition

MSRP of 59.99$

30 FPS when 60 FPS was promised initially

Online isn't free on the 360 port

MSRP of 39.99$

60 FPS+ provided that you have some mildly powerful hardware

Free online

Full support for the wired 360 pad

The game is great arcade racing fun. The deformable ground is really cool. I don't usually like rumble but it feels pretty great here. Most of all, racers suck when they're not at 60 FPS since there's little sense of speed. Combined with the superior exchange rate of the canadian dollar that dwindles game prices even further, if I was not such a broke-ass student nowadays I'd definitely purchase it because it really is a lot of fun.

Arguably, traditional PC gaming genres are in a pretty pitiful state, but in certain cases multiplatform ports on Windows are quite interesting.

the 30 fps hasn't particularly impeded my enjoyment of the demo

What's so surprising?  PC version is almost always better and cheaper.  The only problem is you need to spend much more on PC hardware than you do on consoles.  Marvel:Ultimate Alliance, for example, can barely run at 30fps at 720p on consoles but it easily does 60fps at 1080p on top end PC hardware.

Btw, welcome back, Jotaro.  It sounds like you were having fun at College.  Why do you want to be an internet loser again?

Because of random insomnia and the sporadic need to waste some time, due to factors like the varying climate of canadian autumn, and to a baby in the appartment upwards who constantly wakes up and cries at about 2-3 AM. :lol

Here I especially welcome this port because the 60 FPS promise that ended up being disrespected in the console ports was outrageous, especially for a racer. I still wouldn't get a majority of multiplatform ports on PCs even if they run better most of the times because the majority of them find constant ways to stutter no matter how powerful your rig is.

30 solid FPS is much preferrable to the erratic FPS most people will get on their PC rigs

don't racers usually give an option to lock the framerate?

This game is coming out on PSP too, right?  Have they shown anything on that version yet?

Gamestop/EB is doing a $10 off preorder offer for the game, regardless of platform. I'm tempted to pick up the PC version becuase I liked Sega Rally 2 back in the day and the only 'iffy' issue for me was the 360 pad support. I'm downloading the demo now and will check it out (as well as run a FRAPS run to see if it keeps the 60fps at 360-quality or better visuals).
