I'd just like to say that I'm currently playing though Deus ex again and it does not hold.   :'(  Memories dashed of what was once a game in my top ten.

Does not hold? It's even better than it was back in the days! Especially when compared to all the braindead 6-hours long shooters of nowadays. It would flatly embarass EVERY OTHER GAME on the market if it was remade as is only with Unreal Engine 3 graphics instead of with the Unreal Tournament engine.

This game is perfect, touching, gripping, cool as hell, brilliant, has one of the best plots in any game ever and one of the best game atmospheres ever too. Arguably the best game of all time and certainly my favorite.

This summer, and it was mostly to witness the quality of the PS2 port.

It's actually not a bad version at all even if the game slows down a bit too much in certain spots. The menus are simplified, the presentation is better, the introduction consists of an impressive FMV instead of some abject in-engine cutscene, and the character models have been beefed up a bit.

thats the version I'm playing.  I remembered it the way you have it in your post, but now it feels clunky, the "choice" I remember having is now just direct path or out of the way path.  I'm disappointed.
