Bill Hicks.
Here's a comedian I hear touted about around various parts of the internet. It seems I must be missing something. Infact, I don't see how he's a comedian for any reason other the fact he appeared at comedy clubs. I've been watching youtubes of his acts, and most of it is self righteous spewin, which is fine, most comedians secretly hail themselves as prophets. It just seems Hicks skipped the comedy part and went straight to self righteous prophet without any sense of humility to make him likeable. It's like with a Carlin act, where he'll say some things I'm fine with, some things I don't agree with, but in the end I laugh. Wait it's not like that, because in the end I don't laugh. That's the whole difference between a guy like Carlin and Hicks, Carlin makes you laugh. Hicks just gets off on himself, even pausing to make the "ooooh" moments, and then rambles on. He has no timing, no delivery, just no comedic qualities. He has loud sounds, which is part of his act, and others have copied... but those others are better at it than he is. Hell, Dennis Leary at least has delivery. Hicks has nothing.
