So I bought the new matchbox twenty last night and due to my excitement from the new spill canvas, i didn't get a chance to listen to it last night.
So I popped it in my laptop at work and listened to it...
first things first, the new cd is pretty much a greatest hits. However, there are two cd's.
the first: 6 new songs and 2 live songs.
1. How Far We've Come
2. I'll Believe You When
3. All Your Reasons
4. These Hard Times
5. If I Fall
6. Can't Let You Go
---------------------
7. Remedy (Live)
8. Modern Love (Live)
My Consensus: AMAZING omg. It's much more like Yourself or Someone Like You now which is a VERY good thing. I love More Than You Think You Are but I don't like the direction I saw them moving in.
They were more pop oriented and they relied too heavily on slow songs. But these 6 songs just seem like they're going back to their roots. Amazing.
I was totally surprised by the album. I really thought I'd like my new Spill Canvas more but this just blew me away. It's an amazing cd. Pick it up.
However, I don't like the choices for their Greatest Hits. It's just all their singles which actually seem to be their worst songs (relative term! i find all of their songs amazing).
1. Long Day
2. Push
3. 3 AM
4. Real World
5. Back 2 Good
6. Bent
6. If You're Gone
8. Mad Season
9. Disease
10. Unwell
11. Bright Lights
Bottom Line: Incredible value (11 dollars at best buy last night) for all the music. I don't care for all the choices of their Greatest Hits, but they chose singles because that's what sells their cd's. Their new 6 songs are amazing and IMO are worth the purchase of the cd themselves.
