I have Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Heavenly Sword, Shin Onimusha and Devil May Cry 3 SE all sitting here largely unplayed.  Which should I devote my time to first?  I'm leaning more towards DMC3 since 4 is due out soon, but every time I try it, I can't get past the boss on the first stage.   :'(

That icy Cerberus? try shooting him from afar with your guns.

I'd finish HS first since it's the shortest, then go for DMC3, Shin Onimusha and finally NGS.

NGS will consume your soul and time, if you are going to beat it in every difficulty + 50 extra missions.

EDIT: if you wanna beat DMC3 easily, level up your trickster style, dodging enemy attacks will make fights much easier.

Isn't DMC3:SE supposed to be much easier than the original?  You suck.  NG:Sigma is the best of the bunch but it really is just the Xbox game upscaled to HD.   HS is worth a try just to see what all the fuss is about.  You probably still remember that I wasn't a big fan of HS but I'll admit that it had some "next-gen" elements that are worth checking out.  I'll be interested to know what you think of HS's story and its combat engine.

I had that problem too. :lol

Just keep at it. You'll eventually learn his pattern and how to dodge most of his attacks.

Just buy DMC3.  It is superior to the other games in almost every way.

But he have them all...

I'm not playing on wussy-ass easy difficulties though.

Yes, keep in mind I have all these games already...just want to know which is the one I should be playing first.

Heavenly Sword has some great presentation and cut scenes, but the action has been pretty underwhelming to me.  I played it up until the part when you get the Heavenly Sword and stopped right around there.

lyte, go with Trickster style, you can never go wrong with it.

you will get a very awesome weapon after beating the first boss, use it wisely.

Once you figure out Flying Swallow NG goes from a HOLY SHIT game to a merely good one.  Once you figure out DMC's sysstems it goes from a good game to a HOLY SHIT IMMA PUT 90 HOURS INTO THIS GAME game.

They tweaked Flying Swallow with Black and Sigma, you will miss about 70% of the time plus you can't use it against some enemies.

The fuck are you talking about?  I ran through Sigma using swallow.  Sorry, game still isn't that great.

You are telling me you used FS against all bosses and it worked every time? no blocking? no dodging?

Fair enough.

but if i were you, I'd use the twin Katanas (new weapon) against Alma, shit is way too powerful against her.

Bosses in DMC3 gt way harder...I remember beating that fire/ice guardian boss was very frustrating on hard.

NGS.

I just found Ninja Gaiden to be extremely fun.  While I enjoyed DMC3 it just never felt as fun as NG.  The bosses in DMC3 were pure awesomeness, though.  I played the non-greatest version which was a pain since it had an annoying continue system.

phht. The ice/fire boss is the hardest boss in the game. Once I got to Nevan or Beowulf, I don't remember, I was able to beat each and every boss on my first try, most of the time without getting hit. With beowulf, and I had to do was evade his attacks, get behind him, and own him.

dmc3se - dmc3
easy - not available
normal - easy
hard - normal
very hard - hard
dmd - dmd
hoh - hoh

so if this your first time playing it, you are playing on wussy-ass dificulties since hard isn't unlocked by default

also, agni/rudra are fire/wind, not fire/ice, and they're definitely some of the easiest bosses on all dificulties. they're only somewhat challenging if you kill one and leave the other with a load of health, since the fused sword's attacks have a big aoe and deal more damage. but you're not supposed to do that.

if i were you, i'd play dmc3, shin onimusha and then ninja gaiden sigma. heavenly sword :rofl

as for the first boss, if it's that thing that looks like death, the trick is to keep moving - preferably with trickster's dash and jumping - while he's teleporting. when you attack him, rush with stinger and keep attacking until he swings his scythe, then dodge, rinse and repeat.
