ron paul, easily. dismantling regulatory bodies in favor of faux-occam "common sense" appeals embarrasses nuanced, thinking folk. also, his supporters are "bumper sticker thinkers" who like reductionist dispensational sloganeering and a jingoistic black-and-white worldview instead of having to grapple with murky-ass and inconvenient reality.

in terms of scary stupid crazy, though, giuliani takes the cake.

hillary is technically a republican; why is she not on the list?

Hillary's crazy...crazy like a fox! She's the only one out of the current crop that I'd actually trust to lead the country, unless Al Gore decides to run.

Rudy simply because he's far more of a threat than Paul. Paul is irrelevant, just like the 100 other republican candidates you left off the poll.

His 911 obsession is quite disturbing, and he seems much more dangerous than Bush.

Paul will once again prove that the Internet is only a very small subset of Real Life, and he's not gonna get any support in the primary. I will have to agree with PD, I'd say Rudy is the scariest, due to his fascist, police-state tendencies, the fact he still won't shut up 7 years after the fact about 911, and the fact that he has a serious shot at winning the presidency.

Rudy picked Bush's replacement for Sec. of Homeland Security.

Guess what, the guy was a crook and got in trouble with the law and imploded in Bush's face. Apparently due to this Bush fucking HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATES Rudy.

I can't wait to see the entire Rudy cabinet. Loads of corrupt tricky NYC republicans. Joys of joys.

(Rudy leads in 0 Kerry states)

The thing is, though, Rudy scares me enough that I don't want him to get the nomination at all...the merest chance that he might win worries me.

Living overseas, I haven't been able to watch the Republican primary debates aside from sound clips - who's the least-insane Republican candidate thus far? Romney?

rudy seems probably the stupidest. I mean, I don't think there's anybody left that thinks he did a good job taking care of NY and acted in a dignified manner. he probably won't even get the nomination but the whole republican party is pretty screwed over right now so that nomination might not even matter.

I think McCain is poised to be craziest, especially if he loses out. He had been the 'legit' Republican or the kind of one that could survive on The Daily Show without total hatred from the audience. But his differences and his past have been used constantly against him by the same people he'll support. So he sells a bit himself out to be more Bush-friendly, and come election time they'll sell him out again in return. When he flames out miserably again, and is asked to be the fence mender and legitimizer for another lesser Republican candidate, it's the perfect storm for a McCain National Convention Murder Spree!

I voted for Ron Paul. Sure Rudy is off his rocker, but he strikes me as more just plainly stupid than crazy, which as we've seen with Bush is still pretty fucking bad.

He is pumping the airwaves in the states with TOOOOOOOOOOOONS of commercials. He is the only Republican who is raising money on the scale of Obama and Hillary and thus can pump the early primaries with ads and more ads while Rudy, Thompson, and McCain struggle for cash and can't afford commerical time.

And where are almost all of his fund raisers take place? Utah.

I wonder why Utah of all states is where he gets all his loads of campaign cash. HMM. His campaign is FULL of that sweet Mormon cash. Never underestimate the kind of power that organization has.
