Warriors Orochi - MAF TIME
« on: October 07, 2007, 10:44:09 PM »
Ill keep it short.

+Fanservice. Like 70+ characters, lots of skills, lots of maps, lots of stuff.
+Visuals are the best ive seen in a 360 DW/SW game.
+DW characters slightly upgraded to match the gameplay mechanics of the SW cast.
+Impressive attention to keeping the story and interactions between the characters loyal to the two individual series.

-Everything brought over except play mechanics from the Empire games. What a shame.
-Friendly AI is dumber than a dog. At least give me the assemble/disassemble a la Empires titles.
-Oh the Juggles
-Easy is too easy, Normal is too hard.
-Too many skills and weapons awarded in Easy resulting in the breaking of Normal while trying to compensate for its difficulty.
-Poop Troop AI made more tenacious, friendly AI still kinda passive.
-Lots of skills, no items. I want some items. :(

Send a PM to the people who are looking for this place or you think might be a good poster here.  A lot of people have zero idea this place even exists; I was playing on Live with some J-GAFfers who didn't know what I meant by "Evilbore."

Warriors Orochi, definitely.  More challenge for your buck, more characters to play as, etc.  This will hold you over until DW6 is released.

Damn this game is raping me! I retried Wei Stage 2-X like 6 times last night on Normal and I keep getting creamed! When I finally managed to protect the base camp 4 more enemy officers bust out of the woodwork and juggle my ass hard. Then my commander has run off somewhere and DIED so I fail the mission :'( When stage 2 on Normal is this freaking hard Id hate to think how hard Chaos difficulty is. I might have to go 'EASY MODE' Hopefully I can still get some good achievements on easy

Use Lightning Sword lady from the Shu campaign. It is INSANE how overpowered her super is. I just let generals gather around me in normal mode and pull it off and they all drop. The game actually has to catch up to report all the general deaths lol.

But yeah, its a shame cause EASY is almost too EASY considering you are forced to start there because NORMAL IS HARD.

And yes, I did say once people who complain that easy is easy are tards, but thats considering that normal is actually a normal difficulty.

Hmm. Looks like I'll start playing on easy mode, and grind for some better weapons and skills for normal. I guess Ive got a complex about picking easy mode in games  :'( Which is why Im playing Halo 3 on heroic and GoW on Hardcore (although GoW isnt really that tough at all)

Im up to Wei final stage, and I can get Orochi down to his last 1/3 of health, but Cao Cao and Cao Pi keep running into his circle of death attack and getting killed, resulting in me failing the level  :'( Stupid asswipes! Anyone got any tips on how I can beat the last boss without this happening?

my trick!

a) have all 3 characters be PWR or TEC for their brutal high damage RB specials.
b) BE AT THE GATES WHEN THEY OPEN. kill da ji with RB specials -- and make sure you have the fast musou recharge and recharge when fighting proficiencies equipped. bum rush orochi before everyoine else does; let them choke on poop troops.
c) unload RB attacks on him and pray one of your stupid compatriots doesn't engage him. do NOT use musou attacks, they suck compared to RB specials.

4th weapons are a pain, and most folks have a stage in which they hafta hit a series of events to make the weapon box appear. i'd recommend GAMEFAQS :'(

GAMEFAQS :bow

Ive told myself I want to 1000 points this game as all the achievments looked pretty do-able. And the game is awesome.

Im not sure If I'll want to move onto DW: Gundam or DW6 after this, I have a feeling I'll be musoed out  :'( But this game is getting better the more I play, for some reason I always thought of DW games as being shallow but im constantly figuring out new combos and strategies, great stuff

4th weapons are dropped by generals on hard or chaos mode. it's fucking brutal either way you go -- don't bother until you have a good party at level 99. i remember my farming place of choice being on shu 3-x, or whichever one has you ambushing masamune date. wait for the generals to build in the center, then try to pull them out one at a time, being careful not to get surrounded. you'll get it eventually.

also, you level skills like you would obtain them -- they stack. this makes raising specific skills a pain, unless you have a lot of characters unlocked. it's generally a waste of time, anyway.

I think I read on GAMEFAQS that each charcter has a 'unique item' which improves stats and unlocks new art in the gallery, which are obtained in the way that Prole specified. I think you just need 1 for the achievement

Orochi, difficulty-wise, is the hardest Musou game I've played.  Although DW6 is up there already; I'm getting my ass kicked on the second and third levels!

Orochi is hard because of borked difficulty and juggling, not sure if it deserves props for that.. Not to mention PWR characters are WAY too powerful.

zhao yun ("MY MASTER!!!" guy) is worth using, too -- his jumping Y combo rapes, and he's exceptional at crowd control. him, tachibana and zhu rong are all you really need for that particular scenario. using shimazu is fine early on, but ditch him as soon as you get zhu rong -- his movelist always remains kinda stagnant.

Ginchyo you just let them all gather around you and do her super they all drop. Only challenging fight on normal with her was Orochi but thats just cause he juggles and has lots of hp.

Im so bad at remembering the character names haha. Tachibana I think is the sweet lightning chick Im using. Im up to the stage where you help Zhu Rong and Meng Huo fight the Orochi army, so I figure I'll unlock her once I complete that level.  Im also using the guy who fights with the musket (Sagai I think?), hes a bit useless but I like his moves and his character is pretty funny.

fuck trying to get a 4th weapon  :( doing a 3 star level on hard is fairly similar to being raped. I managed to last for 2/3 of the level then poop troops end up wasting the ship captian  :'( My Tachibana is level 88 but she still can only get hit 4 times before she dies. Juggles  :'( Looks like Im in for some grinding/ frustration

There's the Swap Magic disc, but you need to slightly modify your PS2 (nothing with wires, just the shell) to use it.

I really hope Capcom releases this game in English.
