T-Shirts, mugs, and now bikinis.

Seriously, this needs to stop.  Has anyone here purchased this lame stuff?

It's sad that his ideals, which I don't fully agree with, are betrayed by the products that bear his image.

I guess this means that in 40 years we will have Fidel Castro mugs.

What kind of idiot agrees with the ideals of a mass murderer?  Che was a Stalinist at a time when it was known full well how evil Stalin was.  People wearing Che propaganda should be taken about as seriously as those people wearing Charles Manson shit.

What's there to be sarcastic about?  The man was a total idiot, and the fools who sport his shit without knowing his story even moreso.  He was a guerrilla fighter not above killing innocents, wanting to "free" those same innocents with wonderful Stalinistic Communism.

I can't wait to see that Che movie with Benicio Del Toro next year.  That shit's gonna play like a modern-day WWII propaganda flick for sure.

Alos, fuck that monobrowed cunt Frida Kahlo while we're at it.  As much as I want to plug Salma Hayek's pooper, it was hilarious when she got up at the Academy Awards in 2003 and said Frida would be against war, considering how much Kahlo worshipped Stalin even after it was common knowledge that he was a mass-murderer.

Sadly, morons (95% of the moviegoing public) take these types of films as historical fact.

I saw a girl with a Che faceplate on her cellphone on the bus the other week. I was about to leap out of my seat and deliver a flying kick right to her stupid teeth, until I remembered that I am in fact a reasonably mild-mannered individual.

The Motorcycle Diaries film was pretty sweet. My aunty gave me the book for my birthday a couple of years ago and I made a token effort to read it, but didn't get past the first chapter because Che made it so immediately clear that he was just some distinguished mentally-challenged Marxist dogma spouting asshole.

there this trendy Cafe' called 'Fidels' in Wellington which is plastered with pics of Che and Fidel Castro all over the place I shit you not. Youd not believe the amount of dreadlocked, pussy roots music listening hippies who hang there and rock Che t-shirts, honeslty thinking the whole Che ethos is to do with just chilling out, being cool and being a 'revolutionary' just by being a dick and smoking weed

It gets worse. You know where Krazy Lounge used to be? Fidel's is now opening "Ernesto's" there, Ernesto of course being Che's real first name. Cunts.

It's just that particular image of him that's popular, not his ideals.  I doubt 99% of the people wearing shirts with a picture of Che even know who the fuck he was.

Wikipedia sez:
Quote
An Alberto Korda photo of him (shown) has received wide distribution and modification, appearing on t-shirts, protest banners, and in many other formats. The Maryland Institute College of Art called this picture "the most famous photograph in the world and a symbol of the 20th century."

How many t-shirts do you see that flag-planting photo on?   ;)

Most young people probably liken Che with "rebellion" and "revolution."  Not that they have any fucking kind of connection with him or his ideals, but you know, "rebellion = rebel N' IMMA REBEL MANG!!!"  That or they just think it looks cool.

I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if the designer who put his face on a bikini also had no clue who he was.

Eh, if you see a guy in college with a Che poster or shirt, they will try to float the shit about him being a strong role model due to his ideals or some bullshit.  Girls, being total useless whores, probably don't even try to pretend that they know what the fuck is going on.

I don't believe the Che image is more well-known than Joe Rosenthal's photo of the flag-raising at Iwo Jima. Evidently the Maryland institute of whatever's knowledge of past iconic imagery stops somewhere around 1990.  For decades after the flag-raising photo was taken, you couldn't walk into a diner or a barbershop or a Mom & Pop store anywhere in this country without seeing some form of it framed and on a wall.  Doesn't matter if it was on a fucking T-shirt or not, it was everywhere else, in every home, in every magazine or newspaper on the anniversary.  It's faded with the dying out of the WWII generation, but it permeated the culture and the public consciousness for decades, exposing it to a helluva lot more people for a helluva lot longer than the mug shot of that smelly sociopathic commie.

Oh, I know it's some days later, but I just remembered a little fact for Che followers to chew on:  duder was also a liar; a self-embellisher.  Che claimed to have gone to medical school to become a doctor, when there is in fact no record of him studying medicine outside of being a medic, a far cry from going to medical school or being a doctor.

I know, compared to the other moral transgressions put forward by the bastard, it's small potatoes, but even the little details like this (little, ha!  Lying about being a doctor, lol) show that ever facet of the man was deplorable.  I can't defend a CIA assassination of anyone while I am sober, but if I had a few Fat Tires in me, I'd probably be cool with the feds icing El Che.
