sony finally does something right (or wrong depending on your point of view) for once and drops the PS3 price. 

you think this move will cause microsoft to take it one step further?  maybe not this holiday, but i'm assuming if the PS3 gains some ground worldwide after this move, MS will soften the blow by announcing another price cut.

MS will drop the price when Sony does.  I think MS' strategy is to always have the 360 at least $100 cheaper than the PS3.

i don't think it would look desperate personally...  it would be more of a kick in the balls to Sony if anything.  consumers who just bought a 360 might be pissed though.  i'm waiting for the elite to hit $249 then i'm selling my current 360 and "upgrading".

I dunno if removing key features is considered doing something right. In my mind they did something wrong in an attempt to do something right which makes it all wrong.

Microsoft has Halo 3, they don't need to lower the price to get the average consumer to buy a 360 this holiday season.

i'm in love with BC using the EE chip on my PS3.  i've bought more ps2 games now than i did with a standalone PS2.  more so because upscaling is just a godsend for the platform.  i feel bad for folks that have to deal with software BC or no BC at all.

I do play PS1/PS2 games from time to time on the PS3, and the upscaler is cool and all, but not a deal breaker for me. If it didn't have BC on the PS3, I'd just use my PS2, which I'm hanging on to for my Japanese imports.

Dude, I've played all of two PS2 games on my PS3. It would be nice for it to stick around and I'm glad I have it, though.
