Training for a new job
« on: October 11, 2007, 09:24:39 AM »
I was offered a job (yipee) yesterday but they want me to go to New York for training for a couple of weeks. Has anyone had to do this for a new job? Go to a completely different state for extensive training? I'm not complaining because I get to stay in a pretty swank hotel that is paid for and food is also paid for, plus I have never been to New York.

I'm absolutely going to do it, this job pays really well and it's pretty close to my dream job. It's a great job, I'll just leave it at that. I don't know if I will have internet access though, I can use my trio but there are some sites that I can't access (Evilbore, Facebook, Yahoo mail).

Evilbore is blocked?  It's not even blocked at my workplace, and that place is really anal about blocking non-work related sites.

It's not blocked, for some reason I just can't access it on my Trio, along with a few other sites. There are not filters set up on the thing.

edit: my trio is a personal one, not a work one

Corny sent me a PM and blocked me from responding.  So here's my response.

Go fuck yourself, icon ;)

edit:  So not to shit up the thread, congrats on the new job T!  I've heard of others having to go elsewhere to train.  It's pretty common with a good corporate job, sounds like an awesome experience.

Hey Ruzghey, why don't you mind your own fucking business, you creepy fucking dickhead? Are you the fucking arbiter of the internet or something?

And DJ_Tet, you fucking little clithanger. In between making creepy pillow talk with anyone he THINKS is a female, he takes the time to spread rumors and talk shit about me in a place I can't respond. No wonder you have to beat the bitches off you with a stick, guy - you OOZE manliness. Especially with that early thirties chrome dome you're sporting.

Didn't you just say how weak it is to ignore people and call them bald?  Yet you are such a hypocrite you can't even stop yourself.

You're such a little bitch corny, and I wasn't 'spreading rumors' about you.

I'm not familiar at all with New York and it's neighborhoods, all I know is that it's downtown.

NY seems to big to me lol. Too many people; I still want to visit just to see what the city looks like in person. I've been to Chicago and it's hella nice.

I'd love to see a city that big, I'd be in awe.  I still remember going to football games at Clemson and seeing 100,000 people in such a small place.  I'd lose my shit in Times Square, I need to go there before I get too much older and won't be able to enjoy it.

Chicago is beautiful and they keep it really clean here. It's also the most bicycle friendly city in the country, of course it has the highest gas in the country too.

I had heard Chicago was a very clean city, it surprised me.  But both Chicago and New York did very well on the 'greenest cities' list, I think Chicago was top three in the US.  NY was top 10, pretty big testament when you consider the scale of those cities.  By comparison Charlotte and Atlanta are some of the most polluted cities (partially for geography though.)

Yeah Chicago was very clean. I went down this one block that was essentially owned by the Nation of Islam and it was spotless. They keep the drugs out of their neighborhoods too

Chicago has great food too. One day I'll take a girl out to dinner there  :-*

No surprise, North Carolina isn't really awesome to visit.  It's pretty nice to live here though.  As a visitor I'd much rather go to Toronto, getting sent to NC to train would suck.  Especially if it wasn't Charlotte or Raleigh.  God forbid he had to go to Fayettenam.
