It was fucking awesome. Went up from North Canton to Cleveland with three other guys, showed up around 11:30 am and we were the first people there. Waited for like 40 minutes before they set up and we got a talkin' to some of the guys setting up. All real cool dudes.
They were taking a bit of time setting up the main stage, so they pulled a van up and set up a little mini station for us to play on before anybody really showed up. This game is tight. It was for some reason the second playable version of the game, when most of the sites and other places have the 8th demo. Even then, while some of the notes were obviously fucked up–I swear I hit them–it was a fun experience. I sang Are You Gonna Be My Girl first, using the mic as a tambourine. Switched over to bass next. Zzz. I feel bad for whoever has to be bass player. I figure most nice guys in bands formed will just switch guitar and bass.
Then I went to the drums, and they are obviously the best part about the game. I sucked at them of course, but they felt basically as real as any videogame controller can be for an instrument. Tough as hell, but still fun. Went on to the guitar next, and of course I killed. Played Expert on that Hives song and did quite well, swithced over to Suffragette City on Expert and it was pretty tough.
For any of you wondering, the guitar controllers, while physically better and overall probably the best of what's available, will take some time adjusting to. I think what they're trying to go for is that they want it to feel much mor elike a real guitar–the upper frets feel cool when you're playing the solo, and the strum bar shouldn't be played hard like the GH strum bar is. Soft and simple strums up and down are the way you hit the notes in this game. Also, the upper fret buttons felt like a bit of a stretch to me this time around for some reason, but again, just something you have to get used to. They also seemed to be sticking, but that's most likely due to the controllers being fucked by the asshoels who played before.
Buy this game when it releases, fucktards!
