Since MSFT has had time to plan
« on: October 14, 2007, 08:04:05 AM »
Will the next XBOX support all of the X360 games and at least support all of the XBOX titles with software BC profiles?

What say you?

I think MSFT and SONY need to not forget how loyal BC makes the users....

To quote Nintendo before the REvolution was unveiled - "A customer should be able to re-use their plays on the new system"

it's probably a big hassle (even if you can plan) to emulate entirely different hardware.  I mean, I doubt the next 360 will even have a similar CPU.

it depends whether the next xbox will use a 'powerpc' architecture or not.
Xbox (Intel CPU) -> Xbox 360 (IBM PowerPC) = can't play original Xbox games, unless you do some 'emulation' for them.
Xbox 360 (IBM PowerPC) -> Xbox 720 (IBM PowerPC) = plays Xbox 360 games flawlessly.
but i prefer that MS use an Intel CPU for the next Xbox, IBM sucks.

I hope so. Personally, I'm kinda hoping that MS does what Nintendo did with the Wii, and put the BC in on a hardware level with the Xbox 720. It would save them a lot of headaches. And of course, support the Xbox 180 titles that work on the 360. They'd be stoopid not to.  :-*
