Aye - who loves this?

This game makes the PS3 for me this year - the demo mixed the run and gun of ratchet and clank with locked camera platforming, and God of War scripted greatness.

I wonder how the online will end up? I loved it on UYA and Deadlocked. I hope they have dedicated servers and like 60 players online - robot war

this demo was a mixed bag for me. presentation, graphics, sound and everything technical is top notch. it's truly a showcase for the ps3. on the other hand, the game plays like its ps2 predecessors with a fresh coat of paint. the gameplay felt archaic, as if i've played this type of game a million times before, last gen. it doesn't help that my expectations going in were super high -- almost ps3 goty caliber high. to be honest, i didn't have much fun w/ the game. this game has gone from must buy to "possible buy" or even rental status. i really hope uncharted blows me away or else all hope for a fuck awesome ps3 game this winter is lost.

I was thikning this would be the case. Ratchet games don't evolve or anything.

i agree - but like megaman games, im happy with the same formula and more of those glorious weapon power ups and bosses.

Megaman actually evolves througout the years. original Megaman is nothing like Megaman X and Megaman X is different from Megaman Zero. ZX changes the formula up even more.

Ratchet and Clank has done the same shit over and over, and the new one is not a massive upgrade like Megaman X was over the NES Megaman's.

I am more thinking the Mega Man games 1-8 - not MMX or MMZX or etc...

MM 1-8 the core seriese went thru 8 installments before switching it up.

It's the greatest R&C ever. It crushes EVERY single next gen game by 1000000X. It's the entire reason I bought my PS3 near launch.

So what if there's another Ratchet. It's better than another boring Halo, Tom Clancy, etc. game.

I can tell you haven't played it, because it crushes every PS2 game upscaled and every 360 game graphically. The game is very amazing.

Deadlocked is garbage, and unlike the other games. That's why the PS3 version went back a step to the other games.

Abrader, I believe Insomniac stated this iteration of the series will not have online battles. Maybe the next sequel on PS3 will get it. You should listen to the Full Moon show, Insomniac's in-house podcast, they have great updates on their games and the podcast is very well produced and entertaining to boot.

Yeah. I am sure I will like it, and it might be the best looking console game, but it's the same gameplay as before. That works fine, still, but I mean, this is the 6th R&C game in like 6 years, aka, not a chance of being a game of the year contender.

Eh, it's like three years since the last real Ratchet though. Deadlocked blows and Size Matters was kind of a pale imitation with the control scheme.

I never got the Deadlocked hate. It was clearly a somewhat rushed "goodbye" to the PS2 series, and with that in mind I thought it was pretty good. The gameplay was fine. I knew it would be a "side story" going in, but it still did the action as good as the other games.

Size Matters was also clearly Ratchet and Clank. I didn't even notice any control issues. For a miniature version of the series, it turned out better than I could have imagined. Worth noting that this was the first one I didn't complete, aka when I realized the formula was starting to feel a bit aged.

I don't think anyone hates it, I think Ratchet is a great series, but to praise it like it was the next best thing is pushing it

Well, yeah, I do agree with that. It's far from re-inventing the wheel, but sometimes, there's nothing wrong with that (ie. Halo 3).

Halo 3 has a ton of things improved and added on over the other two, though. Does Ratchet do anything that the others didn't? From what I've seen it just seems like another episode of the Ratchet and Clank show (tm).
