iPhone? More like WHO CARES OLD NEWS PHONE!
« on: October 16, 2007, 11:14:12 AM »
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21206757/

Quote
That is until Apple updated the iPhone’s firmware and, at best, merely disabled add-ons like Installer.app, or, at worst, “bricked” iPhones that had been hacked to work with network’s other than AT&T to the point of uselessness. What’s more (or actually, less), those simple hoped-for wish-list items such as contact search or copy and paste were absent from the update.

So here we are, three months later, and this remarkably inventive device that’s so lacking as an actual phone but so promising as the be-all/end-all gadget is no better than at launch, and even less hopeful because of Apple’s action against iPhone customizations that enable it to do more than just what Apple says it can and should do.

I think its safe to say that by accepting the iPhone in its current form, you would come to depend on ANY phone

Makes me glad I didn't succumb to my Apple-whorism.  I thought its worst flaw would be lack of 3G, but it's really ended up being a complete piece of garbage.

Sprint.  I've never had any problems receiving pictures from other carriers.  I'll send you one of me at work today too.  I'm all pretty-tacular because I have to go to Corporate tonight.

I disagree.

It's the slickest device I've used in years.  It is not without its flaws.  I'm hoping Apple announces a SDK soon.  The iPhone's biggest strength is that its running Mac OSX, but Apple really needs to allow 3rd party apps.

iPod Touch > iPhone

Thats what I was thinking, but then I realized for just 100$ more you get a phone, a camera, and a mic. Plus the mod scene lets you unlock and go to any carrier you want, Im on T-mobile, You can use skype to save mins, and I have all kinds of cool apps. But, you do get an extra 16 gigs and smaller size with the touch.

I like it a lot. I do prefer my LG phones, though.

I never get the hype.  I can understand the need, but when jackasses try to call you over and over to talk to you for an hour and believe they have a right to shout in public because they have bluetooth headsets, it's a bit stupid.

It is running a version of OSX.  That has been known since it was announced, dude.

Also it looks like an official SDK will be released in February, according to Apple's latest press releases.
