Staying in touch, schooling, working out regularly, domestic maintenance.

Really, anything that requires self-discipline, a long-term commitment, and time management skills without either immediate benefits of a sense of obligation to someone else (like an employer).

Also, appreciating/evaluating any non-narrative form of art.

2. Playing strategy games. I just concentrate on one front and completely forget about the rest. :lol So my city is totally prosperous on one side and burning down on the other. I destroy the Romans while unknowingly being anally raped by the Egyptian army.
3. Spending my free time (I want to do things but I keep wasting my damn time because I'm lazy)
4. Sleeping. :-\ It's 5:30 AM right now.
5. Dancing. No further comment.
6. Buying things. For some reason I'm always hesitant to buy things, even if I want something.
7. Concentrating when I'm alone.
8. Puzzles.

Working a regular job (thank Jehovah for freelance)

What does your freelance work consist of?  I've been toying with the idea of doing freelance business/technical writing to supplement my income (yes, I can be terse if need be :P), and it would be nice to hear how your experience has been.  That is, assuming you're doing freelance writing -- perhaps you're a freelance curmudgeon, heaping vituperation upon unfortunate souls at the behest of craven men with deep pockets. ;)

Being laaaaaaaiiiiid back.

I dunno that the behavior itself helps anything, but the personality qualities that drive it have some benefits.

The flipside of not putting "enough" effort into certain things is that you apparently don't get really upset about those situations not being perfect, and probably don't get yourself worked up over petty shit in general.

Believe me, I'm quite lazy.  I've just been genetically blessed with a decent physique. :P  But I've definitely put on 20 in my 20's, if you know what I mean. :)

Mandark: true enough, I suppose.  I'm generally an easygoing guy.  Except when I'm driving to the train station to go to work while running a bit late and there are four (yes, 4) school buses ahead of me, each making stops and holding up traffic.  Arrrrggghghhhghghg.  :maf :-[ :-\

Freelance digital video editing of local and regional commercials, as well as instructional videos and corporate shit.  I'm actually living in Wilmington, NC and getting about 90% of my work out of contacts in Atlanta.  It's great, I get all the benefits of the years and years of contacts that I've built up without having to actually deal with any of those assholes in person.

I have the worst of both worlds.  I can't bring myself to put any effort into anything, but I still get upset and worked up about imperfection (mine and other people's) anyway.

Glad to hear it's been working out for you. :)  I'm sure freelancing has many benefits if you have a steady stream of work.  I often try to calculate how many pieces I'd need to write to make X number of dollars per year on the side, and it doesn't seem too difficult in terms of the number of hours you'd have to dedicate to it.  The problem is finding the work (or, rather, the work finding you) in the first place in a crowded and competitive market.

right on, i've always considered doing freelance video work... and in many cases almost started a business.  but my job is stable and only 2 miles away, so i don't mind much.  i just hate being trapped in an office all day.  and the work consists of a lot of motion graphics/animation and post production, so it keeps me interested for the most part.  is the "freedom" a big part of your choice to freelance?

Seeing St.C posting in here reminds me:

5) Recognizing anger in others.

Obviously harder over the net, but it doesn't come naturally to me in person, either.  I like to think that I'm fairly observant and empathetic, but there have been plenty of times where I didn't realize someone was genuinely seething.

I just figure it's all in good fun, and they're joshing around, and next thing I know I'm in a blood feud that I don't even find out about until weeks later.

Sounds like autism to me.
Actually, sometimes I wonder if I have ADHD. I'm pretty sure it's just laziness, though. Autism... I doubt it.
Quote from: Wiki
The lack of demonstrated empathy is possibly the most dysfunctional aspect of Asperger syndrome.[2] Individuals with AS experience difficulties in basic elements of social interaction, which may include a failure to develop friendships or enjoy spontaneous interests or achievements with others, a lack of social or emotional reciprocity, and impaired nonverbal behaviors such as eye contact, facial expression, posture, and gesture.[1]
Yeah, I don't have that.
