WHAT U PLAY IN OR AROUND THE DATE OF 10/17 PAL??
« on: October 16, 2007, 09:28:00 PM »
Rhythm Tengoku (arcade)- An arcade version of the Gameboy Advance game from Nintendo, brought to the arcades by SEGA.  Yup.  It's got multiplayer but is otherwise pretty much the same game.  Still fun as hell though.

Arcana Heart (PS2)- Examu, formerly known as Samurai Shodown V and V Special developer YUKI, released this game in arcades at the end of 2006.  It got an update in early 2007, and was finally released for home consoles last week.  Arcana Heart is a brand-new, *ORIGINAL* 2D fighting game, something that is quite rare these days, since games like Melty Blood, Hokuto No Ken, Basara X, etc. are all based on licenses.  The game design screams "otaku," since the cast is entirely female and has various "animu" stereotypes covered, like schoolgirls, shrine maidens, witches, ninjas, fencers, maids, gothic lolitas, massively well-endowed girls, little girls for creepy pervs, etc.  But beneath its colorful, "moe-filled" appearance lies a very well-crafted fighting game with a surprisingly well-balanced roster; it feels like any character really does have a chance at winning.  In addition to the main cast (A total of 13 characters are playable: the 10 main regular fighters, two sub-bosses, and the final boss), there's also 10 Arcana cards that you select to go with your fighter.  These cards essentially add moves to your character, and can be mixed and match for use with anyone, making for a very large total amount of custom characters (in other words there are basically 10 different versions of every character).  The game plays like a slower version of Guilty Gear in some ways.  It uses three main attack buttons, with the fourth button being used for a special kind of homing-dash, recovery, and for controlling Arcana moves.  Each character has plenty of attacks, special moves, and combos.  Air combos are present too.  I played a bunch of 2P over the weekend and was pleasantely surprised about the balance; it really felt refreshing being able to use any character without another being so obviously much better.  My only complaint is that the music is pretty forgettable PC-composed MIDI blahness, but it's doable.  I'll put up screens later.

Halo 3 (360)- Multiplayer rocks.  Nuff said.

KOF Maximum Impact Regulation A (PS2)- Gotta get my Mary skills back up to speed...

Phoenix Wright Trials And Tribulations (DS)- This has been so much more enjoyable than the second game so far.  Almost done with the second case.

KOF XI (PS2)- Cuz it fucking rocks.

Project Gotham Racing 4 (360)- I don't know what it was about PGR2 and PGR3, but I just couldn't get into them for whatever reason, despite liking MSR and the first PGR.  PGR4 on the other hand is just awesome, and the sense of speed and visuals are simply unmatched; the game looks stunning.

Orange Box is just sitting there right now.  I still need to try Portal, but for the most part, I'm kind of disappointed with it.  Been playing a bit of Phantom Hourglass too.

lol pal,

Ive been playing persona 3 I m enjoying the persona fusing ways and cant say Im embarassed to play the high school sim portion much either. I'd say Im halfway through the game, just met the robot girl aigis after something called operation babe hunt, which was both hilarious and sad...

Hilarious in that all my attempts in said minigame failed, and sad because it reflects my real life failures. Although im pretty sure it was rigged.

Yeah that must be it.

Just got raped by some boss around level 70 of tartarus. Time to grind.

Mother 3 - One totally ass kicking game, makes me laugh and cry. Im looking forward to finishing it as I imagine the resolution going to be an absolute doozy.

Yoshi's Island DS - On the train...I generally pass one stage per train trip. Almost finished... a pretty cool game. Old school 2d thrills!

BoF: Dragon Quarter - Awesome. Read my thread if you actually give a shit why Im playing/ what I like about it.

God of War - pretty ropey/ funny, I'll probably finish it as it seems piss easy and I hear its quite short.

Ring of Red - Widely considered as 'ass' Im actually getting some serious kicks out of this title, I guess its the first srpg Ive ever played so that might have something to do with it. 4 hour hour long missions, slow as fuck combat, unskippable animations and low poly shitty texture models arent slowing me down. I quite enjoy the art, setting and flavor so yeah, I'll probably see this through to completion.

ZOE2 - I think I'm at the end of the game, but my nephew took back his PS2. I'll take it back and finish it this weekend.

Ninja Gaiden Black - This game isn't owning me too badly anymore. The game gets much easier as you learn new abilities. I'm on the 4th level now which is right after you beat the fat guy on the blimp.

I'm getting my DS back from my friend tomorrow. I have a bunch of shit to play on it, but I'm gonna start on Zelda: PH first.

Just Zelda: PH for now, was over at a friend's a bit earlier and played a bit of co-op H3 on Legendary. I might start Dragon Quarter this weekend depending on how busy I am.

I don't know if it's out officially, but the GoW Chains Of Olympus demo has already been uploaded, and I've tried it briefly.  Pretty damn impressive!  These pics aren't the best quality, but here it is via TV out.

Portal - Totally awesome game, as been said countless times already. I need to get on those Advanced stages...

TF2 - Yea, it's pure fun. Due to it, I haven't been playing my 360 much.

E4 - Because of this, I actually played my 360 this morning.

Puzzle Quest XBLA - I'll be playing this too. Sure, the AI is cheap, but the fact that losing means pretty much nothing is a good thing.

Halo 3 - Actually haven't played it in almost 2 weeks, but it's always a possibility. I've played the Campaign for all of 5 minutes, though.
