A few hours ago my friend called me. She was upset because she found out to get her car "fixed" it would cost $250. In reality I was able to determine she just needed her oil changed, but the repair dudes told her she'd need all this other crap done too. They also said a simple oil change would end up costing more than $100.
This isn't the first time I've seen this happen. I went to her house, borrowed her car, and drove it up to the repair shop in order to get an estimate. How much is it this time? Well they didn't pull the "you need extra work done" trick on me, and instead wanted $60. I said thanks and drove off.
I changed her oil in less than half an hour, and even did her mom's car while I was there. Has anyone else seen this blatant scam happen to chicks at repair shops?
