They're not going to do anything fancy with the font? What is that bottom bar supposed to be? Lots of stuff you can do with that barren wasteland.

I've been playing a lot of Super Turbo (well, mostly Hyper SF2, but same thing) on the CPS2 emulator on PSP lately in preparation.   :)

I think this weekend I'm going to load up SF Anniversary Collection on XBox and see if this has gotten people playing Hyper SF2 online...

TBH bud, i find Soul Calibur more fun than any 3d fighters (2 at least).

but of course, i am pathetic when it comes to fighting games, just want to have fun, don't want crazy combos or mad skills and that's why i like DOA/SC more than Tekken/Virtua Fighter.

and btw bud, we need to talk about that avatar of yours, it's not work safe enough for my soul.

I would've been fine with the original forever.

And I have no clue T234. It was certainly not that good. Although, I put on a handicap a lot of the time against my friends.

The weird thing was all 16 losses were to my cousin, who had beaten arcade mode (one round per fight) on the hardest difficulty with a time of 59.7 SECONDS.

Uhm, this is bullshit.  I just watched the video last night, and you can't tell how it looks, it's waayyy too washed out to tell anything other than the fact that it has the same number of frames as the original, which we already knew a long time ago.

Quote
But as Christian Svensson, senior director of research and strategic planning at Capcom, explains, there's much more to the remixed experience than just a glossy makeover and online play. The game will feature a "rebalanced mode," which will not only attempt to eliminate significant advantages between characters, but also simplify move inputs for casual players. Svensson stresses that all original button combinations will still remain intact, but those looking to pull off Zangief's typically complex piledriver move or one of Akuma's three-button attacks with one fewer button press will have that option.

More surprising than the slight modification of existing moves is the addition of new ones -- both those taken from other, non-numbered series entries (such as Ryu's fake fireball), and some that have been created from scratch for HD Remix. According to Svensson, "almost every character, especially the less popular characters, has been given some new toys." Several of the world's top Super Street Fighter II Turbo players have been consulting to help maintain the integrity of the experience during this rebalancing process.

Fighting games, perhaps more so than any other modern genre, seem to suffer during online play, as the short-form play sessions allow even a second of lag to kill a match. While Svensson can't detail just what it is that the developers are doing to counteract such issues with HD Remix, he offers a bold, potentially reassuring statement: "It's network code that's never been seen in a commercial fighting game before, and it will hopefully provide, even under relatively poor network connections, a much better experience than any fighting game that's ever existed."

We'll ultimately have to wait to see if such prognostications pan out, but one feature we expect to be completely fascinating is the addition of robust stat tracking tools. "Think of it as your Halo 3 service record," says Svensson, referring to Bungie's mighty collection of highly specific in-game statistics. Either through the game or via a web-based portal, HD Remix players will be able to check out a heap of stats, broken down by character, country of origin, and even move type. "If I want to see the top Cammy players from Canada, I can do that," he says. "If I want to see who has the most throws in the world, period -- I can do that."

In addition to consulting with top players, avid fans have already helped decide one of the Achievements to be included in the Xbox 360 version, and Svensson hints that the community will come into play somehow with the creation (or selection) of the remixed music tracks to be included as well. What it all culminates in is an experience that will not only be friendlier than ever for all users, but also highly user-created. "Everything about this is...you tell us what you want," says Svensson, "and we'll do our best to deliver it for you."
