How's the west coast?
« on: October 18, 2007, 05:30:34 PM »
I'm looking to hopefully relocate to the west coast in a couple of years.  I just wanted to ask the evilbore community about it.  I'm originally from NYC and have basically spend my entire life here.  I love it here, but I would like to expand my horizons and move to the west coast.  I don't want to fall in the trap of generalizations, but everyone I've known from the west coast is always so chill and laid back.  NYC can be very rushed and hectic. If I do move I will miss public transportation, its not best or the cleanest, but it does it job and the cultural diversity

Does anyone here have any frame of reference regarding both areas?

California is culturally diverse, but the public transit does suck. I can't compare though as I have hardly spent any time on the east coast.

love the west coast, born and raised in california.  right now it's sunny and warm.  can't beat the weather out here, especially in northern cali.

people here are very chill and laid back as long as you're not on the freeway or in a car.  public transportation is definitely ass here, expect to buy/lease a car.  for the most part, california is diverse culturally.  where i'm from, the bay area, it's pretty much a melting pot like new york.  it's great because of the variety of food available and if you're single, lots of hot chicks to go around.  i'd say my biggest complaint is rush hour traffic and the abundance of police everywhere.  but hey, if you wanna feel safe, it's a good thing.

live in Austin. The housing is fair and the town is beautiful. Its small enough to not be a big city, yet it has many things a large city like L.A. has. We have a strong local sports team, the Longhorns. We have an awesome music scene and a decent film scene.

the bay area's probably the most like NYC.  in san francisco, there's a decent public transportation system.  southern california around LA is too big for me.  are you going to school or working right now?

Lived in the east coast all my life and I absolutely love it out west, well the few times I've visited (LA, Seattle, Portland, Vancouver)... friendlier people, more opportunities for recreation/outdoorsy stuff, and a bit more modern and less grittier than NYC.

She was rich enough that the doctor's salary would be incidental.   :o

Uhm, why'd you guys break up, if you don't mind my asking?  She sounds like a catch (unless having money made her a spoiled, bratty bitch).

I know what you mean.  A relationship won't last unless the couple clicked on a genital level.

I like it here out west. Whenever I go to east coast I don't much enjoy it.

There's just something about it that makes me angsty and want to leave.

Maybe because it so old and shitty.
