Eraserhead or Last Temptation of Christ

So yeah, trouble at home. I'm stressed, and I want to watch something controversial and/or fucked up.

Which one?

And NO, I don't have Caligula handy.

I'd probably have to go with Last Temptation.  I kinda think Eraserhead is ultimately overrated.

You should watch Eraserhead, but you should save it for when you are in a specifically Lynchy mood.  It's a good movie to have conversations about, probablya  good movie to watch while baked, but otherwise, it's a curiosity.

I can hardly sit through Eraserhead anymore.  A friend of mine came over last April and wanted to watch it and my first reaction was "are you fucking serious?"  I used to like the movie a lot more than I do now....I just don't have the patience these days.  The movie does have some great Lynchian scenes, like when Henry goes over to Mary's house for dinner and when the lady in the radiator breaks out in her song and dance but....ugh....don't make me watch the film again all the way through.

Better than Inland Empire though.

Yeah, even I won't defend Inland Empire.  It starts off kind, well, tolerable, but it doesn't stay that way for very long.

Both films are pretty boring, but at least Temptation of Christ was watchable.

I can at least sort of get why Last Temptation of Christ is a noteworthy film.  Eraserhead it's like, yeah, everything in here Lynch has done better elsewhere, and there are better dreamlike movies out there, even if they don't have the same visual asthetic (which is, while nice, only really present in a few noteworthy scenes).

This is why I recommendedyou not check out Eraserhead when you were trying to get into Lynch, FoC.  I think it was you, anyway.

I felt like I had to watch it because I was reading Lynch's book at the time.

The one where the chapters are like 2 paragraphs each. I think its his newest. My girlfriend (before I met her) got him to sign it.

I eventually decided to watch Eraserhead.

Yeah, should have waited until I was baked.
