We've already had threads where we listed which games we are buying this holiday season. However, as the season progresses sacrifices have to be made, either due to time or budget constraints. Which are the titles that you are thinking of scratching off your list? Again, these are titles that are not going to fit within the holiday shopping window. You may choose to purchase the game at later date.

I'm not getting:

Call of Duty 4
Crysis
Unreal Tournament III
Hellgate: London
Universe at War
Kane and Lynch
Gears of War PC

I'm not really feeling the shooter vibe this year. I'll catch up next summer. I'm also thinking of not picking up the Supreme Commander xpac until next year too, though I'm less certain of that than I am the ones listed above. It's all about having time to play the games moreso than the money spent on them.

COD4 (I have too many shooters)
VF5 (it'll get a big price drop by this summer)
HL2:OB (don't need a shooter..)

don't want the drac x remake, but feel weirdly obligated
probably pass on cod4 for now -- my last three games have all been fpss

then there are four games i want on the 20th -- uncharted, assassin's creed, mass effect, and time crisis 4. which won't do. my 360 looks like it's about to die, which i guess would simplify that situation

Agree with all of this. Assassin's Creed, at the moment, is closest to getting the axe. For a game close to release, there's little hype about it. Usually by now, hype would be at fever pitch, as it is for the other two big games there (sorry Time Crisis, I'm gittin' you but you aren't one of the big boys).

Also, Rock Band is precariously close to getting the axe. Since the reviews have already been bought and paid for, I'm going to wait to see what other hermit gamers say. I'm mostly in this for the guitar, but if Guitar Hero does guitar that much better, well. . .

Assassin's Creed -- You just know it will get a price drop quickly, ie. Prince of Persia 1 and Beyond Good and Evil.
Simpsons Game -- Demo wasn't fun. I'll hold off until it's cheap.

There's no hype for the game, which means it either sucks or the publisher hasn't been sending their checks to the press. Probably the sucky one.

I think the awkward E3 demo gave everyone a bad first impression of the game, and people want to see reviews before getting hyped for the game. If they start coming in with really high scores, expect people to take notice.

If I want an online shooter I'll go with Quake Wars.

I'm really not up for another CoD experience. I played through both CoD1, CoD:UO, and CoD2 this year, and I need a break from that style of play.

Glad you came to your senses about Hellgate. I was thinking that it might be good since TVC has gone insane recently but it really turned out to be crap.

Crysis was one of my top 3 most wanted games this year but I might hold off on it since it seems like one of those games that is better 1-2 yrs from now. From what I've read, it looks like you'll have to deal with lower framerates/graphical settings even with top of the line hardware.

We'll know for sure on Friday when the single player demo comes out, but man the MP beta was rough stuff in terms of performance.

Fuck ROCK BAND - are you made out of money or something?

As much as I've enjoyed Guitar Hero II and the demo of Legends of Rock, as well as anticipating what Harmonix does with Rock Band - it's a party game with a limited single player shelf life. The promise of online play really won't capture the feeling of what it's like to play either game with multiple people. And since you can't do that every day (at least I can't, with my responsibilities), it's just not worth the investment for me. I'd rather just play it a friend's house, as I know a few folks getting one or the other or both.

The online play really has almost no appeal to me - maybe it will when I actually try it out. The downloadable content is what interests me...but we'll see about the pricing. I'm not getting it Day One - I'm kinda close to taking it off my list of definites for this year. Guitar Hero III might be enough for a while. I'll be getting that for PS2, btw, considering I already have a controller for it.

we haggled since I didn't feel like getting some of the games but he let me have all of them for $150. He probably could have gotten more from trading in or ebaying but he didn't feel like it. I was planning on only getting a few games around now but I'm fine with this...it's a win-win I guess.

I still want to get Mass Effect and maybe Skate. I don't like how they released everything in the same holiday. Some people like more than one genre.
