The final action set piece in that game is fantastic and epic.  It trumps everything out there.  I demand that if anyone is going to make a shooter in the near future, that they go to GABE NEWELL'S SCHOOL OF FRIED CHICKEN AND BUTTERFINGERS where they can learn how to make a real shooter.

The final battle was indeed awesome.  Orange Box is the best console FPS ever.  It's a shame that dumbass console fanboys are whining about how it's overrated because it's not exclusive to their system of choice.

Episode Two more than makes up for Episode One's shortcomings, and managed to find the perfect balance that the ending of Half-Life 2 sorely lacked.

Again, Valve tilts the game in the player's favor by giving you a new deadly weapon capable of decimating everything in its path.  When I saw this, I immediately thought of the lackluster Citadel level from the original and began to already mark Episode Two down several points.  But unlike the original Half-Life 2, where the grav gun was so skewed in your favor that you practically walked through the Citadel, Episode Two gives you a legitimate challenge.  And it's awesome.

The fact that Episode Two also ties in with Portal, one of my favorite games in years, and resolves some nagging plot points while introducing what looks to be a mano y mano, knockdown fight in the Arctic makes me anticipate Episode Three with much frothing.  FROTH, I SAY.

The hunters gave me the most problem in EP. 2.  They're really hard to take down without the alt-ammo of the Combine gun.  I just ran them over with the car in the final fight because I never had enough ammo to take out 3 hunters at a time.

Yeah, I had to run a bunch over with the car, then hug the two buildings near the silo as the onslaught came.

I had a hard time holding the final strider back and I literally killed it right as it was about to fire at the silo

I think Orange Box was an excellent way to release their new stuff, what a value.
