That was a pritty stupid article though.
Normal pad control still have a lot of evolution in them there is no doubt about it and skate is an example of this. But also to imply that every type of game control on a game pad is stupid. In a skate boarding game you are essentially doing one thing, controlling a board, so you can dedicate an entire pad to having enough imput choices to emulate all normal movement with out havening to resort to putting lots of moments into a single action. Its fine to praise evolution in the game pad and an article totally dedicated it to just that would be fine but then it throws in a half as argument on why the wii doesn't work, by sighting a first gen game built for the game cube and saying "well now I don't think the wii isn't great because because its still like were using a way to input actions into a game and there not one to one; we are still lossing actions with the wii". Well of course fucktard. Its still a game controller and it will still have the same problems as a normal controller. The fact is that a wii controller can do different things than a pad but that doesn't make it better at all things; it makes it better at some things and worse at others. Also the pad has over a decade on people trying to work out controls on it; the wii hasn't had a single year, so its a bit to soon to be saying "ya those wii controls not so much".
