Drinky is right in this instance. You know this "the Wii version is hands down superior" stuff is bullshit considering they haven't played the GC version since e3 2005.

I don't think Nintendo has touched the GC version since e3 2005 either.  :-\

That's what I'm telling myself. Launch games are always over-hyped by journalists can get more time with the system. From what I can tell, no one has played the GC version in a LONG time so hell what do they know.

Only thing that pisses me off is the obvious uses of the controller, which look awesome. Like that canoe race, which clearly controls like Tony Hawk Downhill Jam, but better; you move the canoe around with the wiimote as it slides down an awesome river. Or the aiming, which will clearly be better on the Wii.

That shit was added to the Wii version just to make it different imo

They say that because they can obviously make a comparison to Wind Waker and the other 3d Zelda's. The GC contorls for TP won't be a great departure, and common sense says you can readily compare the two if you've spent enough time with ANY 3d Zelda, particularly WW.

More in denial GC version supporter propaganda.

Check out some of the last GC footage we saw (Kikizo 30min gameplay):
http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?fs=1&id=641#gameplay

EVERYONE was salivating over that when it was first shown, and there's no reason why it won't rock. If TP is truly better than OOT and WW, it won't matter what controller you use. It looks bigger and better than WW in every way, and having similar controls won't hurt it a bit. WW and OOT have pretty similar controls, although WW improves some things like camera view and combat. TP on the GC will have all that too.

Because you'll otherwise miss out on an amazing experience rather than experience something you've played similar to 3 times prior. Why play the GC version if you are going to get a Wii? It's stupid. You will ruin the experience if you're going to play the Wii version anyways.

I agree.  Waggling really doesn't seem that bad but I could wait for it if I didn't want to buy a wii.

And the "waggling" seems overblown. Also, people seem to forget all the extra shit  you can do on the wii version. Instead of pressing a button to fish, I actually fish in the Wii version. Instead of pressing a button to a row a boat, I row that boat.

Even if TP on GC is awesome, it seems it will still lack the immersion that the Wii version will only be able to supply.

Personally I want the experience to be fresh, so i'm buying a Wii at launch.

I'm not getting a Wii anytime soon. It'm not spending $300 to play one game.

TP is going to be the "last" Zelda game as we know it. With that in mind, I would prefer to play it as it's meant to be played. There's going to be a true Wii talored Zelda game for the system in the future, and I'm sure it'll be great. But right now I want to take the last hurrah with traditional controls

"Meant" to be played, and yet that version has been put to the shelf for atleast a good 6 months to a year.

I don't know, I want something different. I can only imagine what will happen if TP's controls are so good that it becomes the prime example as to how to use Wii controls. Much like Mario 64 and it's analog stick + camera. Here's hoping. Maybe then the jaded traditional controller gamers will atleast give that version a try.

I've given traditional controls a go for a good 17 years. I don't think I really need a last hurrah.

It's been on the shelf because Nintendo is a group of fucking liars. The Wii version is being pushed while 20mil Gamecube owners are disrespected. Meh. Nintendo can fuck my grandma and little sister all they want, but if they don't want to give me equal fucking time...forget them. Go for the non gamers.

The Wii controller adds nothing to the game worth an extra $250. Swinging the controller merely replaces pushing a button, and it's not an upgrade. Aiming looks good, but Z targeting on the Gamecube looks great too. You could shoot bows and use boomerangs in Wind Waker and nobody complained.

lol @ himu acting like flicking your wrist is the greatest thing ever.

Himo, it's been confirmed many of times that it's a simple flick wrist motion, nothing overly complicated that's going into this.  If you think your going to be "rowing" your boat your in for it big time.

If anything I'll tape my tv remote to my cube controller and do the same motion while pressing the A button, problem solved.

When I really think about doing all this shit while playing, I still can't imagine it being any better (except for the fishing mini-game), but all these fucking positive impressions have worn me down. Especially since I was going to get a Wii eventually anyway, but I was planning on waiting until Mario or SSBB. I'm still not getting it at launch though. I just wish Nintendo would show the GC version for even a fucking second. They've definitely had just piles of finished GC discs laying around for months.

I know; dude, I'm not saying fishing sucks and shouldn't be played. I'm just saying I'm not spending $300 just to be able to fish more realistically; it's not important enough to the game to justify such a price.

I've always supported the Wii version. I wanted teh Wii version more since it was announced. It's just that I didn't want to get the cash for a Wii + Zelda. But after all the GC version bullshit I just decided to chip in and buy a Wii + Zelda.

I've been iffy on the Wii ever since I moved. I suppose I have enough room to waggle in my room, but as of right now I simply cannot justify buying a console to play one game. Red Steel looks fun, and I'd probably buy it, but it's not like I need to play fucking Red Steel. By the time Mario Galaxy comes out the Wii should have a better lineup. As of right now, I'm highly disappointed. The third party support, outside of Red Steel, is looking very weak, and phoned in. Where's Capcom? I know they're doing a RE game, but it sounds like a bunch of shit jumbled up. It looks like RE5 will be the real sequel I'm looking for, and it's on the 360.

By the time I buy the 360 there will be about 5-6 games out that I really want to play on it, including stuff like Gears of War and Lost Planet.

You don't need much room at all. If you have room to play any other game you have room for a Wii + waggle. Especially since playing with the Wii is a more relaxed process than with a standard game controller.

Add to the fact that Wii is small as fucking hell, and I wonder why you even brought that up. It seems to me you aren't willing to give Wii a chance, PD. But after the GC, I'm pretty sure you're burned pretty bad as a Nintendo fan.

As for 3rd party support these are the games that interest me:

Trauma Center
Super Swing Golf
Resident Evil
Elebits
Red Steel
Rayman
Excite Truck
Metal Slug Anthology
Forever Blue
Sonic
Cooking Mama

Not to mention Nintendo 1st party games. The line up is looking a hell of a lot better than ps3s.

No, I was burned at E3. All the hype, all the interest. Fuck, I spent like half a week creating more hype for Nintendo on the internet through Broken Saints than they ever did lol. Two disappointing E3s later I'm still waiting to be impressed. Right now, I see a bunch of terrible minigame romps, some ports, and a couple good looking games scattered about.

I remember hearing about how FPS games on the Wii would be amazing. Hell, I spent like 30min typing up that Game Informer article on Red Steel and posting it on GAF. Yes, I was extremely excited. I remember reading how the AI would be like FEAR's AI, and how quick 360degree turns with the Wii were on pace with mouse controls. But so far, Red Steel and MP3 have rather clunky controls that aren't smooth, especially when you try to turn. Maybe that will be fixed in the future.

Nintendo has shown off tons of minigame romps that NO ONE cares about. Why? So they can potentially get 50 year old women to buy a videogame system. Why aren't they showing a nearly equal emphasis on hardcore games for the hardcore gamers who they already sold 2 billion+ games to? Zelda, yeah. Mario, yeah. What else? SSBB, true, and guess what: it uses the Gamecube controller. Fire Emblem, yes, which doesn't use the controller either. Nintendo seems bent on creating tons of new IPs for nongamers, but what about new IPs for more casual/hardcore gamers? Project Hammer? lol

I'm going to get Zelda on my Gamecube and enjoy it, while playing through RE4 again with component cables. I'll get the MP games again and try to beat them. Heck I never finished Wind Waker's final few fetch quests, so I'll play through that again. By the time I'm done, maybe Nintendo will give me an incentive to buy their new console.

The Wii is going to flounder in the US over time, and maybe then Nintendo will realize that alienating your bread and butter customers in order to gain a group of people who have no interest in gaming...is not a good idea. Good luck selling systems to 50 year olds Nintendo. Might as well try to sell them a rap CD

Alienating your bread and butter customers? That's hliarious PD, because Wii offers a mixture between being enjoyable for non-gamers and gamers alike, much like DS.

It just seems to me that you are jaded and really can't accept change at all.

You act like trying to appeal to the wider market is a bad thing. Sorry PD, but I'm tired of the double standards that our industry faces. Shit like, if I say I played a game all day, I get funny faces. But if some cigarillo says he watched football all day people toss him a beer. Crap like that. In order to actually make sure gaming doesn't fall into a rut, become niche, and appeal to only a certain demogrpahic much like comic books, we need to start appealling to a wider audience.

I see nothing wrong with this at all. The chances of non-games completely taking over the industry are slim at best so stop worrying, stop making baseless statements, and have an open mind. If Wii fails, atleast Nintendo tried. And I have respect for that. You can continue playing games the same way we've been playing them for 20 years all you want, but I see nothing wrong with a different change of pace.

Appealing to a wide market is not a bad thing; I never said it was. I only ask that Nintendo spend as much time releasing real games as they do non games on the Wii. We've seen many new nongame IPs, yet Nintendo has yet to create any new IPs for hardcore gamers. I want to see them focus on creating new franchises instead of casually throwing current ones into new genres, like Metroid Hunters. Why can't Retro work on an actual FPS instead of creating "deathmatch" Metroid modes? Why can't Intelligent Systems create a new series to serve as Nintendo's actual RPG series, or at least make Fire Emblem more marketable? Why can't Camelot bring Golden Sun to the Wii, or even DS? Why not have NST work on something people actually want to play? And why bog Aonuma down as just "the Zelda guy"? If Nintendo had made Miyamoto "just the Mario guy" things wouldn't have turned out so great. I want to see Aonuma branch out before going to work on the next Zelda. I want to see Nintendo start up the same inner development competition/rivalries that turned out games like Donkey Kong Country and Mario 64 (which was Miyamoto's answer to Rare's hit titles).

Why not spend a little money securing certain next gen support?
