Last Saturday I had to come in to school because they had an open school thing for junior high kids. Then on Sunday I had agreed to help with a Halloween party for elementary school kids, so that was an all day thing. Then on Monday I felt like shit so I had to go to the doctor and then I had to go back to school even though I felt like shit because otherwise I'd have to take paid leave and I need to save it to visit my family back home. I ended up sleeping in the nurse's office until after 4 PM and then she drove me to the train station, that's how bad I felt. Then on Tuesday I had four classes and I felt awful but I had to go in to work because if I didn't the whole term schedule would be thrown off. Even though I felt like shit, the teachers I work with didn't pitch in at all and I ended up losing my voice because I strained it trying to talk over the LITTLE FUCKERS in 1-7 who are the worst students I have ever taught. One of them even started to insult me because I took a Halloween prop I was using for the lesson away from him before he broke it. The teacher, meanwhile, just stood in a corner and smiled.
Then on Wednesday I woke up and my voice was gone. I couldn't speak at all, and I had four lessons that day, same as before. Halloween lesson, which requires tons of speaking and interacting with the students. I had to rewrite the lesson plan so that the teachers would do the majority of it. Even still, one of them was like "But you should be doing this, that's why you're the ALT." JESUS FUCK YOU.
