CrystalGemini and I went to a midnight showing of Ghostbusters, arguably the second greatest film of all-time when I saw this outside...



I immediately bought 2 tickets.

It was totally worth it.  Crowd was really into it and that film holds up so well.  It really is a great film.

They announced that they made so much from the midnite showings and business in general (it's a one screen theater), that they are renovating the theater with new seating, whatever the new Dolby technology is and 3D projection.

You can order beer and food while you watch cult movies. Every wednesday they have a free cult screening.

Army of Darkness surprised me. I remember posting a thread about it being bad - I had come to this conclusion after watching around 5 minutes. IIRC it was the scene where a bunch of little Ashes attack the real one, in a kitchen.

After watching the film from beginning to end I gotta say...I liked it more than Evil Dead 2. I dunno what the consensus is in terms of people's opinions on which of the three films is best, but AoD was just very entertaining to me, and I picked up on the humor more so than Evil Dead 2.

Yeah, I've heard the Alamo Drafthouse, but who cares?  It's in Texas, which is a shitty state that's not close to me and it's also frequent by Harry Knowles and his ilk, which is a con if I've ever heard one.  On the basis that he gets his buddies there and watch movies, I would never go there.  Ever.

They also showed the original trailer for Army of Darkness, which was awesome.  I wish they made trailers like that nowadays - it gets you pumped!  The best part is that the midnight showing is on Black Friday, annually the most heinous work day of the year for retail employees (such as myself).  So as I tell the fourteenth crying mother in a row that their child will not be getting a Wii for Christmas, I can look at my Army of Darkness tickets in my wallet and smile.  Because after work, I've got a date for Bruce Campbell.

Also, Evil Dead 2 is better than Army of Darkness, but that is a general litmus test for people who like movies.  People with good taste always know that Evil Dead 2 is superior, but mainstream bafoons that would likely purchase a boy band CD seem to prefer Army of Darkness.

Yea Harry Knowels being there is pretty. He makes me weep for the human race ever time I see him. Not to offend you but judging by your movie taste I thought you would be a fan of aintitcool 

Also the drafthouse here shows old trailers in front of all their movies.

Yeah, this place shows old trailers as well and we don't have to put up with 2-ton, sweaty manbeasts.  Dude, I find Harry Knowles' voice irritating.  Everything about that guy is obnoxious - if school children had done their job and mocked him properly, he would've probably committed suicide and we'd be free of his mortal body.

Yes, I like a ton of 80 "geek" properties, but I don't define my life by them, nor do I think AICN is a gift from Heaven.  If anything, that site has outlived its usefulness; Knowles, McWeeny and the lot used to not be afraid to post relatively important and breaking scoops regardless of the consequences.  Now with them all firmly entrenched in the Hollywood system pursuing or continuing their own careers, the site is just a marketing outlet for studios.  This whole "let's stay outside the system and write about it!" guerilla geek thing that it was started on has evaporated and the place has definitely sold out.  It's nothing more than a glorified, layman's version of Variety at this point.

I dont ever go there so I cant really comment. I only know that the first time I went there it was a review for episode 2 that said that Episode 2 was soo great that it made episode 1 better. 

The guy doesnt have any credibility. Not too mention hes too fat to walk.

I forogt you were from Atlanta. When I heard about the film I was ecstatic, the premise was great. A car that runs on blood. It sounded like a campy horror/ road warrior type movie.

Instead it was a slap stick comedy about sex. Yes thats right the movie was about sex. The only reason the main guy invents the car is so he can have more sex.
