At least the appointment ended up costing less than I expected.

I need to find somewhere to get new glasses, but that probably isn't a good idea when my face is filled wif novacaine

My next appointment is on the 13th.  That's when they crown my front teeth.  After that I am taking a break for the holidays, but I have one more deep cleaning I need to get done.

Then next year gets complicated.  My wisdom teeth have to come out, and in the same general area as the wisdom teeth, there is a destroyed molar on each side of my mouth, and it might be more beneficial insurance wise to go into like, legitimate surgery for that, since dental insurance won't entirely cover that.  I'd be getting molar implants.  IMPLANTS which apparently involves like taking my face off.  face.  off.

EDIT:  PD, I dunno if I told you but I may skip ortho, because they are going to put my new front teeth in straight.  I will reassess the situation next year once all my required work is done.

Teeth implants  :o

So they take out old teeth, and put new ones in? Sounds like you'll be drugged up enough for them to finger your brain and not feel any pain

Yes, Father Mike, you break teeth and have wisdom teeth come in by not brushing your teeth.  You are going to go far in college.

Well, there were 2 other options, but oddly enough, the most elaborate one, which requires multiple surgeries, would end up being the cheapest and best.  We didn't go too far into details since that is all new year stuff, we were just chatting about what gets focused on next.

That sounds gnarly, in the bad way.

What would the molar implants involve?  I got an implant, but it's up front.  I imagine going into the back would be way more... involved.

Again, she didn't go into details, so I only got a basic description.  I am sure it is not as nasty as it sounds.  Or maybe in reality it is nastier than it sounds.  You can never tell with medical stuff.

She said that it's like a 3 visit process.  IIRC, first they cut into the jawline (in my case the upper jaw), remove any remainder of the tooth, and put some sort of base implant in its place.  Then they make sure that my body and nerves are cool with it, and the last part sounded basically like a fancy crowning process.  Depending on how my teeth are aligned, they might have to shape the neighboring teeth.

She also said that not everybody could get it done.  I think she said something vague along the lines of "having enough of a jaw."  It would apparently be relatively serious surgery for dental shit because of nerves and it being on the top row of my teeth.  Plus I might need it done on both sides (she thinks she might be able to piece together the one broken molar).

I may have some details wrong; we were just chatting, she wasn't like formally consulting with me on this stuff.

How painful is teeth removal?  I really want to remove my wisdom teeth 'cause they make my gums sore.

It wasn't painful at all for me, but you'll be fucked up for the rest of the day, possibly more; I had two taken out the first time, then the other two later. I was so paranoid I'd get an infection I didn't chew on that side of my mouth for more than a month and a half

20 seconds per tooth to an hour for the whole thing.  they usually do one side at a time so you can eat more easily.  if you're teeth are starting to hurt, they're probably pretty far out so it'll be fast but you should do it soon because my brother waited like 6 months after he felt pain and got a minor infection.  if it's a long procedure, they have to knock you out with anesthesia so you can't drive home but if it's a quick one, you probably don't have to skip any school/work.

I heard wisdom teeth aren't actually that painful, and that's just a sore, achey pain that leaves you kind of exhausted.  You know, not like a killer woah is me pain, but an ow this shit sucks and I am watching Markie Post movies on Lifetime all day, fuckers.
