The only Wal-Mart near me never breaks street dates. I'm gonna try to get in on that Circuit City deal, anyhow.

Although, by the time I get out of work, they probably won't have any copies of COD3 to give out. $:-\$

well other than sp achievements what do you get out of that? the sp is supposed to be kind of weak and everybody is going to go to cod4 mp.

If you've never played HL2, I'd say go with the Orange Box. Plus, I feel the amount of people playing TF2 on 360 is going to fall off very quickly. COD4 is going to be played until the next COD comes out.

I'm hoping that the higher level perks and weapons are more superfluous than anything. The beta had all of the really important stuff available within the first few levels and had a nice balance that I would hate to see disturbed by some distinguished mentally-challenged high level perks.

I noticed a perk where you drop a grenade when you get killed. wtf. that's pretty cheap.

Like RoboJ said, unless they really fuck up the top tier levels, it works out pretty well. You get the guns, upgrades, and perks you need within a fairly short amount of playtime.

I hope so, but in the end I guess it won't matter since I see myself playing this game for a long time anyway. There doesn't seem to be another FPS coming out for a while.

BTW, once you hit level 65, you can trade in your rank for some insignia or some crap and start all over again. Seems kinda stupid.

...I'll probably do it multiple times.

There was a MASSIVE thread on GAF about it. You had to sign up on charlieoscardelta.com. It was only a few weeks, and ended almost a month ago. It was glorious. It was incredibly polished for a beta. It was more like a multiplayer demo.

Anyway, about the ranking system. I was listening to the 1up Podcast from the week before last, and they were talking about it: The cap is at level 55, and you then have the option to gain a unique insignia next to your name and start all over, but this can only be done up to five times. Also when you start over, you give up everything you have earned, so the 1up guys were thinking that a lot of people probably won't bother unless they're goaded into doing so by other gamers who say they lack the skill to do it all over again blah blah blah. Anyway, if you cap at the fifth insignia, you then get all your weapons retextured to be made of gold. That's it.

I don't see many people bothering...it really is for the hardcore.

For those that don't know COD4 will be available on STEAM November 12. Sucks that you have to wait so long, but it's worth it for not having to worry about DVD and patching

devs should be ashamed of themselves. i'm already on the 3rd mission and the framerate has not dropped below a rock solid 60fps (360 version). cod4 is one of the technical marvels of this gen. represent!
