Im so sucked into this mofo, youd think Id rather be playing Blue Dragon, but nope I keep going back to this. A testament to the games quality! This shit is awesome, soundtrack is too played out though, but whatever! Im constantly discovering new things and secret rooms, there so many fucking items even the most hardcore collection bitch will be satisfied.

The Xbla version is the definitive version for sure, achievements have really got me pushing for getting the ful 200.6% complete... Im up to about 198% so nearly there.... then theres the Richter achievement to go for OMG

Its good playing this again because I was under the impression that Dawn of Sorrow could hold a canlde to SotN but nope, shits all over Dos, PoR almost comes close (Yuzo soundtrack :bow)

I think I might take a break, or at least wait, to get the next DS game. I'm kinda getting burnt out by the handheld installments. I've played all 5 of them.

Yeah, SOTN is still the champ.  Music-wise, the only thing that's on the same level is Rondo Of Blood.

Thats probably the one major issue with the Xbla version, compressed soundtrack :( And it seems to be too quiet, it would be good if the game had the typical music and SFX mixer, but nope

My only issue with SOTN is the difficulty, way too easy.

Scenester, you can increase volume in the options, try that.

Castlevania IV's music is really love-hate, it's definitely rather avant-garde and not anything like your typical CV music. I dug the jazzy flute in stage 3 and the Lil Jon-esque snare rolls in stage 4. Rondo, SOTN, and POR (Yuzo :bow) have my favorite soundtracks in the series... although I'll admit to being slightly more partial to Retrovania than Metroidvania, maybe its because the latter has been fairly played out in recent times (I played COTM in 2001, HoD in 2002, AoS in 2003, DoS in 2005, and PoR in 2006, not to mention that around 2005 or so I picked up Rondo for PCE).

thats what I thought... but the difficulty ramps up a bit in the inverted castle, I ended up dying a few times

oh and the volue is just a general master volume, you cant turn only the music up  :(

Indeed it does.

but a little grinding helps.

and yes, sadly the sound effects are way too loud.
