Their lead designer was perhaps the biggest douchebag in the industry, and that is saying ALOT.

The very same.  As I understand his ego was one of the main reasons the place is so poorly run.

I still remember that quote as one of the most insane things I've ever heard a producer say (in public). I can't remember the exact line but he basically called Aki a bunch of poofy homos because of their fighting game mechanics. It was awesomely surreal, especially when Def Jam ICON had NO fighting game mechanics.

you mean Kudo? god what a douche. guy was like...at least half japanese anyway, so i dont know what he had against (superior) japanese brawlers.

Def Jam with AKI = surprisingly good fighting game series that sells well and is critically liked.

Def Jam without AKI = am total failure.  But at least the graphics are nice.

Woe to any developer who hires that douche.
