Achievements for Lost Odyssey are out.

36 achievements, 1000 points. 21 of them are secret. Here are the non-secret ones:

01. Disc 1 clear - Complete disc 1 - 125 points

02. Disc 2 clear - Complete disc 2 - 125 points

03. Disc 3 clear - Complete disc 3 - 125 points

04. Disc 4 clear - Complete disc 4 - 125 points

05. Learn Skill Link - An immortal learns learns a mortal's skill via skill link - 30 points

06. Learn all skills - Kaim learns all skills available - 20 points

07. First Dream of a Thousand Years - Experience the first Thousand Year Dream sequence - 20 points

08. Thousand Year Dream - Experience all the Thousand Year Dream sequences - 10 points

09. Get all Treasure items - Get all the treasures available on fields. If a treasure has been picked up by someone else, maybe you can find it on auction - 20 points

10. Succesful Perfect 3 Combo - In a battle successfully pull off a Perfect 3 times in a row - 30 points

11. 500 Successful Perfects - Pull off 500 Perfects in battles - 10 points

12. Damage over 1000,000 - In a battle inflict over 1 million damage on an enemy - 10 points

13. Defeat 1000 enemies - Defeat over 1000 enemies in battle - 10 points

14. Around the world - Visit all the locations on the world map, including secret locations - 10 points

15. Backyard Lightclass Master - In the backyard, fulfill all the hidden victory conditions for all the battle sets in the Lightclass and gain the battle bonuses - 10 points

Achievements sound good, I definitely appreciate the more story-driven ones and the "disk complete" ones that were sorely lacking from BD. Hopefully they don't make me play any more lame minigames or have rapid button-mashing sequences required for achievements.

Im so into the achievement concept, totally revitalised gaming for me. back In the day I used to always 100% my games (since I was a child and had no money = a lot less games to play) nowadays I see the credits and be done with it. No longer! Achievements are great incentive to get everything! You can prove how hardcore you are! (In my case not very  :'() My gamerscore only just broke 1K. Gotta get the full 1000 on some game... Im thinking Warriors Orochi as you just gotta clear every stage to get em all, not play some faget ass online thing. Just about got all of SotN's I thnk...

This was originally intended to be a global release this Christmas though, so the localisation was going in tandem. I'm not sure if technical problems or release schedule caused the delay though.

Well, I know December is a slower month, release-wise, than right now, but still, early 2008 might be a better time for the US release.  At least for me.

I just hope that even if the sales figures are extremely low, it won't keep Mistwalker from making as many 360 RPGs as possible as Sakaguchi intends to

i think that it's obvious that these games are on an odd platform, the typical 360 buyer is interested mostly in shooters, racers, beat'em ups and sports, instead of games with Japanese gameplay and imagery

what? that doesn't mean they can't whoo the japanese game fans and show them xbox has more than racing games and shooters. with blue dragon, they hardly advertised, they released a SHIT TASTIC demo that was in the middle of nowhere. It seemed like MS themselves didn't care about the game at all. Here we are with Lost Odyssey, and it has a HELL of a bigger chance of being successful here than BD. It appeals to western gamer sensibilities more. There is a BIG opportunity here and if MS doesn't bother again this time, then they are fools, especially after securing such talent like Sakaguchi. Japan isn't the only ones that like rpgs you fuck wits.

Any way you look at it, MS dropped the ball on BD. The reviewers chastising the game was a total sin, I am not really one to give a shit about review scores, but it getting 6.5s and 7s from arguably prominent websites/mags was a real big blow to this game, as well as the poor demo and the lack of TV advertisements. MS should've used BD and ES to emphasize that they aren't all about shooters, and try to get some of the RPG loving PS2 fanbase who hasn't upgraded to next gen, but no, they totally dropped the ball.

People who complain about "archaic" turn-based systems can go fuck themselves.

Scenester: Enchanted Arms was the first next-gen RPG, released by From Soft. Its aesthetic is very FF, but I hear the gameplay isn't that great. One of the characters in it is famous for being a total fruit. I have the game, unopened, sitting on my shelf.

It's because of the system these games shipped on. Hell I can't believe what Microsoft did to the cover of Blue Dragon; even on PAL regions it retains the original 2D designs, but on the NA cover they tried to make the game look like Fantasia.

What matters as far as reviews go are those printed in prominent newspapers and that's pretty much it. The small column done by some 50 years-old beardman who writes at the Wall Street Journal and happens to talk about games and technology every now and then has more clout than all gaming magazines and websites combined. Ultimately, game reviews only make some drama material.

Not only will reviewers implicitly blast Lost Odyssey for having turn-based battles, but they will just echo the consumers' will. The near totality of 360 consumers think that turn-based gameplay and games with japanese character designs don't belong on their platform and in their game collection.

Bioshock's demo was a great example of good advertisement. It was PERFECT getting people interested in the game. There are more ways to advertise than you think. I didn't even see any Blue Dragon tv commercials. If they did have BD commercials they should have said,"FROM THE MAKER OF FINAL FANTASY". They should do the same for Lost Odyssey. Play minute long commercials that show how awesome it looks and say FROM THE MAKER OF FINAL FANTASY. That's all they have to do.
