Question: What does the strike mean for Lost? Any idea how many episodes they finished pre-strike? Is it still scheduled to air some time in February? — Mike

Ausiello: Why do I suddenly feel as if I'm talking to myself, Mike? Why do I also suddenly feel like I'm not going to like what I have to say? At least I know the answer to that second part — it's because I don't like what I have to say. If the strike extends into the new year, there is a slight chance ABC may opt to hold the eight completed episodes until 2009 (that's not a typo). Under that scenario, Lost would have 24 original episodes (eight from this season, 16 from next) that could run uninterrupted from January until May — much like a certain Fox drama that features a ticking clock. Says Lost cocreator Carlton Cuse, "Damon [Lindelof] and my concern about running the episodes we will have made is that it will feel a little like reading half a Harry Potter novel, then having to put it down. There is a mini cliff-hanger at the end of Episode 8, but it's like the end of an exciting book chapter; it's not the end of the novel. Damon and I didn't write [the ending of Episode 8] differently [with the looming strike in mind]. We wrote it to be the ending of Episode 8." In any case, he concedes that the decision to hold or air the episodes isn't ultimately theirs. "It's really [ABC honcho Steve MacPherson's] call," Cuse notes, adding, "No one was happy with the six-episode run last season."

I'm sure they won't be until they are paid what they deserve. You know, a cut of the DVD sales, since most of the money comes from that now.

this happened before when the studios wouldn't give any VHS residuals to actors/writers/directors
good on the writers, and fuck anyone who says otherwise!

Sad that this event can't void all future Jewllywood show and film projects and wipe the medium off the face of earth.

I agree that the writers deserve whatever they can get (not only for monetary reasons, but also for the incredible amount of shit they have to put up with on a daily basis).  This is going to mean the death of a lot of shows, though.  If Lost gets delayed into January 2009 (which would mean a gap of 1 year and 7 months between new episodes), then they may as well pack it in and try to wrap it up that season,  because they'll never recover their audience.

TV Land is already infested with such mediocre garbage that it sickens the mind to think of what new low kind of trash they'll put on now.   :'(

Lost being delayed would be awesome.  Nothing would please me more than for so many people to be denied even a terrible ending.  Ultimate blue balls!

I had to suffer the end of the X-Files.  The only thing I can think of that is even worse is being totally denied the gratification of an ending.  And Lost is no X-Files, so it deserves worse.

I will honestly buy myself a bottle of champagne when Lost gets canned due to its inevitable shitty, shitty ratings. Hopefully the public will actually realise at some point that the writing and characters are sub-daytime soap level and they actually dont have to like a TV show becuase its 'hot'.  Fuck Lost

the only show i watch anymore is Curb Your Enthusiasm and they're already finished with everything.

so this strike doesn't really affect me.

There's talk of the networks picking up British TV shows for prime time if the strike keeps going...

Hell yeah.

But in any case, I don't watch T.V. anymore. There's like only 5 good shows left anyhow. Course, me not having a T.V. helps as well.
