Verdict: Snooze fest. I remember all the hubub about how OH IT MAKES AN RTS PLAYABLE ON A CONSOLE. And that's true. But it does so by making it fuck-boring. You command "brigades" instead of individual units. Which sounds playable, but if it was hard to manage a unit of 13, it becomes impossible to manage a unit of 100. They never seem to follow directions and base building and economy management are rudimentary at best.
All of this would be excusable if the game itself was any fun, but it looks great in the wrong places and awful in the places where it should look great. All of the "Name-brand" units look like every other unit to the point where if isn't a cave troll, I have no idea if it's friend or foe. My units sluggishly meander to and fro, sometimes killing, sometimes dying and the objectives were all "Kill x, level Steve to level y, get to a waypoint". It was just. Bleh. It could be fun as a budget purchase, something to kill time, but in a season of must-play games it was barely worth getting past the title screen.
