as Frag pointed out on another forum, if you've done this to your player base once, what's to make them think you won't do it again? I certainly wouldn't get too attached to my HGL characters at this point!

Awesome comment from the Kotaku thread:

"The only way I can get it to run on my Vista box for more than half an hour is to go to the Task Manager, tell it to run only one half of my dual core processor, and manually change which one it uses about every fifteen minutes."

Exactly-this is a credibility issue. It's no different than discovering you have a fuckup on your team after a spectacular foul-up and never allowing important work to cross his desk again. I can't believe that the only answer to their problems is a character wipe-it reeks of laziness and lack of focus on customer service.
