To mark the fifth anniversary of the Xbox Live service, Microsoft will be offering Carcassonne (Hexic 2 in Korea) free to all subscribers for 48 hours starting at 12:01 a.m. EST on Nov. 15th (and presumably nothing to the peeps who already plunked down for the virtual board game), along with 500 Microsoft Points to the ten folks who've been on board since 2002 -- see kids, early adoption does pay off! In addition, Microsoft has confirmed earlier reports that 'Xbox Originals' will be made available for download starting Dec. 4th as part of the Fall Update (the update's additional features have yet to be revealed). Each game can be purchased and downloaded for 1200 points ($15).

In its press release, Microsoft explicitly named Halo, Psychonauts, Crimson Skies and Fable as titles for the Xbox Originals initiative, but did not confirm exactly which games will serve as the jumpoff: "This new service will launch with an array of blockbuster titles spanning the most popular genres from action-adventure to classic role-playing games." Third-party reports claim the preliminary lineup will include Halo, Fable, Indigo Prophecy, Crimson Skies, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath Of Cortex and Burnout 3.

That's a dis. I bought Carcassone the day it came out and now people get it for FREE? At least hook me up with Catan or something.

Also, there's supposed to be a lot of giveaways if you play online on the 15th. You gotta register on xbox.com somewhere though.

I can't believe Sony isn't a little more proactive in this department. I like the fact that I can download PSOne games for 6 bucks a pop off of PSN but the selection is just sad. It should be better utilized than it is.

Psychonauts will buy. I have it on PS2 but I don't really like touching that. Plus I'm sure it'll look somewhat better this way.

I cant believe Sony isn't a little more proactive in any department. They fucked up the PS3 so bad, and go from PR blunder to blunder. My favourite quote is from some bigwig at Sony Europe saying "This is all part of a carefully thought out plan", so Sony effectively 'carefully planned' to have their console sell like crap, have a dogshit online component and have no good games

Xbox 1 games are kinda cool; I might try Psychonauts out finally. But it's not these games are going to be enhanced with online or anything, so Halo 1 doesn't interest me.

Make Conker, Outrun 2 and/or SP, and KOF Neowave downloadable titles and I'll be happy.

Conker isn't region-free and it's been a bitch trying to find a Japanese copy. :'( Same goes with Neowave. :'( :'(
