Well, my face just got blown off. Sin City is easily the coolest, most badass film I've seen in years. It oozes with a bravado and style that makes it purely entertaining; from start to end, the movie is simply a blast. Despite the movie's over the top nature, I couldn't help but be transfixed for the entire 2hr+ journey.
From the very first scene I was instantly hooked. The stylized visuals provide the perfect canvas for the beautiful mayhem the movie presents. Like Pulp Fiction, various storylines are told, all of which connect to a certain degree. Each storyline is interesting, some more than others. I found the last two to be the most explosive. The movie is filled with badasses, but no one is cooler than Marv in The Hard Goodbye story arc. From his dialogue to his actions, the dude simply kicks ass. I can't remember the last time I saw a character so awesome in a movie; he's everything (and more) Wolverine should have been in the X-Men movies. Although some of the lines and acting seem a bit rough and cheesy, they are presented with a smooth confidence that exceeds any criticism.
Marv certainly isn't the only badass in the movie. Clive Owen's character is awesome, and his story arc (The Big Fat Kill) is simply amazing. The hookers seem in this story arc - as well as throughout the movie - are a great addition; the boobs are magnificent, and they really makes me want to get in my car and drive downtime right now. Rosario Dawson...oh lord. And I'd pay to have that asian chick cut my balls off.
My mind is too blown to go on praising this movie, so I'll stop. Like V for Vendetta, the movie really shows that "comic book movies" aren't all about men in masks or hammy dialogue.
