I wonder if it's going to have the plot for the proposed GBIII movie I read a few years ago. Basically, the Ghostbusters are brought out of retirement because Hell is beginning to erupt through the Earth's surface - specifically in New York. There was some talk of evil doppelgangers of all the GB gang wreaking havoc throughout the city, if I remember correctly.

there was never a good ghostbusters game to begin with. and the brand equity it built up in the 80s is pretty insignificant to the youngings. unless a new movie is coming out, which i'm assuming is probably the case.

Everyone involved wants a new ghosbusters. All except Murray. He refuses to do one so there will never be a part 3. So no movie tie in.

The Genesis game I vaguely remember was fairly decent... I can not, for the life of me, figure out wtf you're supposed to do in the SMS game.

With Murray it's an age thing now. He thinks (rightly so) that they're all a bit too old for another GB. I mean, take a look at these guys nowadays - it would be sort of pathetic to watch them huff and puff through another sequel. He's hip to doing voiceover for a CGI version of GB, though, where the characters could remain ageless. I forget where I read those comments, but it was around the same time that "game" video emerged.

yeah its pretty complicated for an 8-bit game. baiscally the buildings start flashing which means ghosts are gonna turn up there, then you play the driving minigame, then you catch the ghosts. the hardest part of the game is figuring out the right items to buy at the beginning. so you go aroung busting ghosts, emptying your traps a they fill up. the goal is to get $10000 before time runs out. if you do you get up to the weird climbing stairs, shooting level, then you face the last boss. I completed the game

GBIII was also supposed to have a new generation of Ghostbusters in it, including Chris Rock and Chris Farley.

sort of... it definitely got some ideas from RE4 but the game plays quite differently. GoW is all about fire-fights, flanking, finding cover and hiding. Where Re4 is full frontal ganado smashin' action comedy

Hey, they did a remake of The Warriors (where is the new movie anyways?) .. which is far more obscure and older than Ghostbusters ever was.

The problem with this concept is that the source material is a comedy. So, you are relying on people who develop games to be funny .. which almost never works (save for a few choice PC point and click games).

So, just playing fantasy developer here .. I would base my game off of the stylings of the Real Ghostbusters cartoon. Even looking up the writers to punch up a script for it. That GB universe would work much better for a video game than basing it off of 20 year old movies.

edit: Reading more into it, it appears that Harold Ramis is doing writing for it too. That would be a huge score and might give this game a better chance.
