A lot of shitty albums were made while fucking high on drugs as well.  Hell, Phil Collins has a whole cocaine fueled career of crap.

etiolate has a point. Just because many great albums were written by musicians who were high does not mean that the drugs had anything to do with the quality of those albums. Many crappy artists have been drug addicts. It has not helped their music.
