Would you guys mind making a thread called "Idiots argue about Zelda series in here" and stop making me think there is intelligent Mario Galaxy discussion going on everytime this thread is bumped.

Anyway to get back on topic, SMG is awesome and seems to singlehandedly make up for the GC.

Are you trying to beat the game w/100% or just beat the game?  I've no clue what you're talking about since I still haven't beat R&C.

after you beat the game, you can get the last 15 stars by revisiting old levels and collecting purple coins. which is almost completely unfun. i hate to leave the game 'unfinished,' but i've got other stuff to play

You don't get a special ending or anything, just a distinguished mentally-challenged second-hand character. Don't bother. I'm just going to beat it and pitch it.

Either of you would agree that Mr Gay is the greatest game of all time (97.6% on GR)?

Having just finished it up with a 120 stars today you do end up getting a tacked on final moment after the credits. Mostly stuff dealing with Princess What's-her-name and a glimpse of what might be the final galaxy you unlock. The purple coins seem to only be there for those who were looking for more of a challenge (and some of them are pretty fucking hard). Yes it could be quite tedious if you've already completed everything else.

I don't want to invest my time in such an ugly game if it's just overhyped.

But hey, like everything else in Galaxy it's a step up from what you normally get from Nintendo when you finish with a 100%. While I do think Galaxy is the best thing Nintendo has made since the SNES era (I don't have a hard on for their N64 games like most other people), it suffers a bit from Nintendo trying to pander to everyone.

The Manta Ray levels are horrendous, some of the open Mario 64-esc worlds are pretty boring, purple coin hunts (though I liked the timed ones), underused powerups, a little too much story, and the hub world (can we please get rid of these). Thankfully, unlike the travesty that was Sunshine, these problems take up a small percentage of the game. Hopefully in the next one they'll completely cut the bullshit and stick with the mostly linear action set pieces the way a Mario game should be.

Well I'm sure someone recorded the special ending on YouTube, I finished Prime with the "Good" ending, then just watched the crappy 5 second extra scene on the tube

I've finished it with about 80 stars. I can't be bothered doing all the other shit though.
