Man collared for kicking 5-year-old girl in face

FUKUOKA -- A man who kicked a 5-year-old girl in the face at a train station here has been arrested, police said.

Arrested on suspicion of assault was Nobuyoshi Abe, 47, a resident of Fukuoka's Higashi-ku. He has reportedly admitted to the allegations against him.

Police said that Abe approached a woman who was with her 5-year-old daughter in a pharmacy at Chihaya Station in Higashi-ku at about 10 p.m. on Sunday, and kicked the young girl in the face.

After the attack, Abe continued to walk toward the station platform, but a police officer who arrived at the scene arrested him. Police are continuing to question Abe over his motives for the attack.

Man arrested for kicking girl who was sitting near train door

YOKOHAMA -- A man has been arrested for kicking a girl who was sitting near a train door and chatting with her friends, police said.

Yukihiro Morimoto, 35, a company employee from Sakae-ku, Yokohama, is accused of inflicting bodily injury. He said he attacked the girl after warning her.

"I got furious after I warned her (against sitting near the train door) but she failed to stop," Morimoto was quoted as telling investigators.

The girl claims that the man attacked her without warning. "He suddenly kicked me."

At about 7:55 p.m. on Tuesday, Morimoto kicked the 17-year-old girl from Yokohama's Tsuzuki-ku, who was sitting down near a door on a JR Negishi Line train, local police said. The girl hit her face against the door, chipping one of her teeth.

Alerted by a worker at Kannai Station in Naka-ku, police officers rushed to the station and arrested Morimoto.
