Gears of War After Hours Preview
"Gear up" for the November 7 release this Saturday, October 21, at our Gears of War After Hours Preview.

After participating stores close, customers 17 years of age or older will be readmitted for a sneak peek at exclusive video content for Gears of War. Anyone caught with a fake moustache will be sent home immediately, without a glass of milk or cookies. While supplies last, FREE lanyards, pins and gamer id tags will be given to those who attend.

In addition, you can purchase either a 3-month or 12-month Xbox Live Kit at $5 OFF the regular price. Stores will only be open one hour for this event. Contact your local GameStop to confirm participation and event details.

I'm not really looking forward to this game...I'm more fascinated by the amount of hype it gets. Besides, this is just going to be a bunch of people standing around watching a video, right?

It looks like a pure action game marketed towards the testosterone deprived males that play video games. If the MP delivers like everyone is hyping it, then it should be a treat at least. Besides, fuck the video they're showing, I'm going for the free swag.

It's just free lanyards man, wtf? So far they haven't shown any variety for the game but most people looking forward to it know that it's been said that they want to keep it a surprise for the consumer. The game looks pretty deep when you consider how much you have to think about cover and AI and making a way to shove a grenade up an enemy's ass (you can actually do this). It's definitely not a bean-counter's game but it doesn't look like it's marketed towards consumers trying to compensate for their penis'.

I'm hoping it's story is going to mocking itself but I'm not going to play it for that. Don't shove things up enemy's asses if you don't want to.

I don't think anyone plays them for the stories, just like no one watches Rambo for the story. It's a shoot and kill game with an overly bad ass character and lots of shit blowing up. We'll see if MP is any deeper. And I love to shove things up enemy's asses.

I don't understand the reasoning behind this "event." The only people who will show up are people who were already going to buy the game anyway, so unless there's some free cake or pie there's really no reason to go at all - especially since it releases in less than a month.

That said, I'm looking forward to the game. I dig shooter-type games with over-the-top violence (it is fun to kill fictional things), and I like the male protagonists in games to look like actual dudes - not chix with dix. I always make the dookie face whenever I see a pic from some Japanese RPG cutscene in a magazine and think "Wow, that's a pretty cgi chick" and underneath the caption reads something like "Hiro loves to swing his magical emblem sword and wear feather boas."
