Oh come on, they aren't that bad!  If you are embarassed, just delete it all except Unplugged, which is easy to defend ("Oh come on, they only play like 3 of their own songs!").

Every time I put in nevermind, I've forgotten how wall to wall fuck awesome it is, and I end up listening to the whole thing.

Would you buy Rock Band if they release it for DLC (like they said they would)?

I plan on buying it anyway, once they make the instruments non shitty, but yes, that would be JESUS.

I'm still waiting for when they're gonna release Who's Next. I mean..that and Nevermind. So fucking awesome.

And yeah, it looks like I'm waiting for that too, TVC. With all the shit people were giving Red Octane for the GH3 controllers (including myself), Rock Band looks to be an even bigger fuck up.

But getting back to Nirvana, both of their live albums are awesome. Nevermind is - as you said - wall to wall awesome as well. I've never gotten into In Utero too much, though.

In Utero is pretty awesome.  I guess it's kind of unfair to expect them to release all incredible albums.  Some of my favorites are on it, though, like Scentless Apprentice!

See, I heard the Muddy Banks live version of that song first...going back to the album version, it just seemed weak in comparison.

Cosigned. Kurt Cobain was a great lyrical poet.  :-*
Meanwhile, I'm getting the Led out. Thank the rock gods that the entire Zeppelin catalog is on iTunes now.  :-*

Butch Vig is the true genius. They never made a studio album better than Nevermind.  :bow

My favorite song of theirs is "Breed" .. it's a perfect Nirvana song.

In Utero has aged VERY well in my opinion.  I like it a lot more than Nevermind, which is obviously fuck awesome as well.  In Utero is balls out all the way through Francis Farmer though  :-*

I disagree.  Butch Vig is good, and he has a distinctive sound, but Nevermind would have been just as great without him.  It's a fine album, but I don't think the Vig slickness really adds anything to it, and I don't think the Albini roughness of In Utero takes away from it.  They were a rough band and it shows no matter how rough or slick the production is.  Lightning just happened to strike with Nevermind.

Nevermind is still one of the few modern albums (and by "modern" I mean "released from 1990 to today") that totally blew me away. Most angsty teenagers gravitate towards music that's rather un-impressive - and sometimes embarrassing - 5 to 10 years down the line. I've probably heard Smells Like Teen Spirit a billion times, yet if it comes on the radio I still can't resist the urge to crank the volume up and just marvel at it.

Nirvana wasn't the most talented band of the grunge movement. Bands like Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and AiC had superior guitarists, and I'll forever maintain that Cornell is one of the greatest rock singers in the last 30 years. But like the Beatles before them, Nirvana outclassed their musical peers in terms song writing. Cobain wasn't a particularly great singer or guitarist - not unlike Lennon (Malek in 3...2...1..). It's hard to deny the brilliance of songs like Heart Shaped Box

Nevermind is very good but I still prefer In Utero.

Heart-Shaped Box was my favorite Nirvana song for a long long time. I also love All Apologies, and Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge on Seattle.
