Did it simply vanish after a mere two weeks?  Are your attention spans that short?

I can't take a fucking break? I've played multiplayer over a day. I actually started the single-player!

Will and I just had an awesome COD4 S&D sesh.

In one of the matches, I was the last person on my team left on Bloc. Two were left on the other team. I had UAV so I used it. I recovered the bomb and shot some dude in the back trying to cover A (whichever one is in the building). I wanted to just kill the other dude because I knew he was close, but I HAD to plant and did so with only 2 seconds left.

I then hid in the corner in the hallway next to the bomb and waited for the other guy to come defuse. He threw a smoke grenade next to the plant and proceeded to fucking spray in the room and through the walls. I really thought I was going to die. I just held my position. He ran into the room and stopped right in the corner across the doorway from me to reload and I fucking laid some Deagle bullets into him.

Intense shit.

Search and Destroy is so intense.

I was playing that one map with the crashed helicopter. It was 1 v 1 and I had to defuse the bomb. I killed the guy camping near the bomb and defused the bomb literally with .5 seconds left.

It was the greatest moment in my life.

Needs MORE love? Crap man I'm on every night! There's something about those challenges that keep me there. I'm going to go Prestige pretty soon also, that's when I'll start weapons mastering in one area for the hell of it.

What an absolutely great game. I had a blast with single player and the little time I've spent with multiplayer. The biggest problem is that I've got so much to play right now that I can't devote it to multiplayer.

Pretty much.  The single player experience failed to bring anything new to the table and simply felt dated next to so many other shooters this fall.  Every shooter I've played this fall has been a blast with this standing as the lone exception.  Perhaps I was naive for expecting something different from Call of Duty 2 (which didn't really interest me either).  The design of these scripted shooters really just doesn't work for me any more.  It was exciting back in the days of MOHAA on the PC, but times have changed.

Furthermore, the timing was pretty bad.  The following two weeks saw the release of games such as Mario Galaxy, Uncharted, Mass Effect, and Assassin's Creed (all four of which are far more entertaining than CoD4).
