I was recently involved in a pseudo-thing with a female that has a Nikki/Ecro thing going (pending engagement). Sexual tension was off the charts, she was obviously not happy about her current relationship, she was unhappy with her life, etc. We ended up having a couple of drinks in what I assumed was a pure platonic get together, but she dodged her boyfriend's calls and texted him lying about her whereabouts. There's a lot of other reasons why I shouldn't be involved with said female, but this one made me feel bad (was I becoming the "other" person?) and despite nothing ever happening, I've put some much needed distance between the two of us. We still get along, but I think I've established strong "you're a friend and nothing else - ever!" boundaries as a result.
