External HDD question
« on: December 01, 2007, 06:29:18 AM »
I was looking at external hdds and one of them says 'For Windows' and the other says 'For Windows or OSX'. What would be the difference? Just software? I'm on a mac, but the one that says it's for windows is cheaper.

MAC's can run windows or OS 10 now, so the hardware is the same.  It's  just some marketing.  Go with the cheaper GOOD name.  Not Maxtor.

Yeah dont buy Maxtor's. I had a Personal Storage 3200 and it trembled like fuck. When I was viewing a slideshow of pictures it used to make a little rattle each and every time it went to the next pic. I exchanged it for a LaCie and this one is great. Also you may want to get one which has a power button, since pulling the plug out all the time gets annoying.

The available brands are a bit different in Japan, but I was gonna get a buffalo, which is what I think Ichirou got.
