Has anyone read this? Rather than attempt a sensible discourse on a complex issue, they've decided to just BAN THE NAMES OF EIDOS GAMES. Not only does making your own forum harder to read not make any sense, but it's a completely ridiculous way for the "premier" gaming forum on the web to act. EvilLore is way out of line. Are you going to discuss the issue or take your ball and go home? It drives me crazy.

1up mentions that Sony might have played a part in the firing because of the 7.5 Ratchet and Clank review. Why doesn't GAF ban Sony and R&C too?

Just a few weeks prior, GameSpot came under fire from Sony Computer Entertainment America for scoring Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction a 7.5. I posted once in a while, but the threads turned into such shitholes that I mostly lurked on the gaming side. I was mainly there for the OT goodness.

The banning of the words "Eidos" and "Gamespot?" All right, sure, why not. It's not like it's not hard to just type "Gamesp0t" or something similar to get around this censorship; if they really want to do something, they should just make a big stickied thread asking people to never go to Gamespot, cancel their memberships, and stop buying Eidos titles. Money talks, this is nothing AND it's annoying. If I go to the wrasslin' thread, I can't talk about Kane because "Kane" is a banned word too.

Shit, this is probably GOOD for Eidos. I kinda want to check out Kane And Lynch now, just because of GerstmannGate.

I stumbled upon an archived thread that Goodcow has on his site from 2004. It's amazing how different (and how much better) GAF was just a few years ago.

Banning titles of anything is pretty silly, I think, if only because it makes actual discussion ridiculous.

And "punishing" Eidos by banning the names of their games makes it difficult to talk about them on a gaming forum.

It's not a big problem, but it's not something I think makes a lot of sense.
