Although I can see them doing this to solidify Wii sales and make those on the fence take the plunge, historically Gamestop/EB employees have known fuckall about anything, and that fuckall is applied exponentially to their computer base, so Himuro is probably right (or at least in the right direction).

This is Nintendo. They've made it their goal to throw up a middle finger at hardcore gamers, so I wouldn't be suprised if this is true.

I bet you will still be able to buy GC Zelda online or in most BIG stores. Nintendo will not ignore 25 million existing users.

In the past, Nintendo wasn't likely to cut sure sales of a software release in order to boost a new system. It just wouldn't go hand in hand with their profit focused strategy, to abondon more sales on a larger established install base for a new console with an an install base starting at 0. They moved Eternal Darkness and Dino/Starfox Adventures to Cube, but those were not finished nor were they sure sellers like Zelda.

If they did do this, then it will be their second mistake in a row after the price of the Wii.

Yeah, because having a large marketshare, selling a lot of consoles and therefore a lot of software, isn't very profitable.

The Wii will have a finite amount of consoles it can sell.

Zelda TP is a guaranteed 2 million+ seller on the GC. That's alot of easy money to ignore.

FALSE ALARM

[Update: 1) Nintendo's PR company is attempting to confirm the information. 2) Some Gamestop and EB Games employees say the reason the game is no longer in their computer system or online is that pre-orders have been maxed out. Apparenly once the company stops taking pre-orders, they remove the game from their computer system entirely. 3) As previously reported, even if the Gamecube version -- the system the game was originally developed for many moons ago -- still comes out at retail, gamers will still be forced to wait until December 11. A full three weeks after the Wii version is released. 4) Nintendo of Europe has apparently confirmed that the game will retail normally there saying, "It's a safe bet to assume the US will be doing the same as us - a full release, though it will be printed in smaller numbers than the Wii version.]
