Whatru playing - 12/4/2007
« on: December 04, 2007, 05:57:07 AM »
Hallo

XBOX=KOTOR
Giving it a go after the Mass Effect love. I think its ok but still finding many things annoying about it.

X360=Mass Effect
I am not too far in, but I
spoiler (click to show/hide)
at least have the ship and have been around a bit WOWS
[close]

PS2=Phantasy Star Universe Ep 2/3, REZ and Call of Duty: Finest Hour
I fokking love the PSU expansion.

PS3=Resistance: Fall of Man, Super Rub a Dub
Most of my time playing games recently has been Resistance online. ITs the most fun I have had with an online game since Socom2. Addictive and I love the new maps. Is it me or are the Super Rub a Dub leaderboards kinda goofed up?

PSP=CastleVania X Chronicles and Silent Hill Origins.
When I tried the TV out on my larger LCD's I wasnt as impressed. When I rocked it on this small 20 inch monitor I have at work, it became as awesome as a 16 bit console to me. I mostly play my PSP on a TV now when not at home. We play the new Battlefront game at the office sometimes.

I'm making my way through some old games I got cheap.

King Kong:
It's really good and I especially love the level design and controls.  The combat and the puzzles all go really damn seamless.  which is amazing considering the odd controls.  great rental (plus achievements are hella easy lol).

Superman Returns:
Not that bad to play casually.  the controls have a lot of issues when fighting a lot of enemies and trying to hold back on the city damage/casualties.  the graphics are all right and I love how you can pick up pretty much anything and throw it at enemies.

Super Mario Galaxy:
Slowly making my way through this and I MIGHT get a couple more stars done by the end of this week (I have around 35).  It's not that I suck at it, it's because I have midterms and two essays this week and finals next week so I don't want to sit down with the game cause then I'll play for too long.

Halo 3:
I'm making my way through the metagame with skulls for the remaining SP achievements.  I think I have 5 achievements I need after I get the metagame achievements.

Far Cry Instincts/Predator:
I really like the stealth type of gameplay.  I'm still in the beginning of the Instincts story but the weapons and traps you can set are pretty satisfying.  The game isn't AAA but it's really fun.

Luminous Arc - yep its hot, see my other thread

Call of Duty 4 - good, just finished SP on Normal, will probably replay on easy just for the TV and Intel Achievements, then Im going for Veteran. Still havent tried multi yet HAHAHAHAHAHAH

played a lot of Hexic tonight also   :P gets kinda addictive

Dead Rising - going too slowly through this, did an awesome mission where I fucked up the cult leader at the cinema and saved lots of cats, then the game DRE'ed just as I got like 7 peeps back to the security room  :maf

People recommend this to me - I have only played the demo on XBL and didnt like it (its multiplayer only)

Is the demo a good indication of what to expect from the rest of the game?

Tales of the Abyss (~25 or so hours in, about to head into Grand Chokmah) and near the end of Summon Night Swordcraft Story 2. After Summon Night, I'm going oldskool and gonna play the DW1-3 GBC remakes.

PSP - Dungeon Maker: Hunting Ground.  Good lord, this is addictive.  The combat is fairly clunky, it's true, but this is the kind of game that makes bus rides feel too short.

PS2 - Valkyrie Profile 2. Finally got around to starting this, but I'm not feeling the battle system so far. What is up with that camera? I think I'd prefer a more isometric view for what's trying to do, just so I don't have to wrangle the camera constantly.  The platforming is fun. But I'm worried that recent dungeon crawlers have ruined my attention for this kind of thing!

PS2 -- Mobile Suit Gundam: Climax UC. Not as good as One Year War, but still pretty fun. Much improved over Bandai's past efforts.

PS3 -- Uncharted. I think I'm close to to the end, I've made it to the "twist" in the game. I've had a feeling something like that would happen for months now, it just seemed like a given. As soon as I finish it up, I'm to go officially start Assassin's Creed.

Rock Band is also getting a lot of love in our household.

I am not even close to finishing Uncharted.. I picked it up - had my one day love affair with it and then shelved it before I can 'officially' start it - the same with Assassins Creed....

I never got what's the big deal w/Resistance or Socom.  Both are just average fascimiles of far better games on PC or consoles.  Neither game has its own unique feel.

No trolling either.  I liked your response in your purchase thread so I won't bother you again.

PS3 :
Uncharted - goign to start a play through on a harder level just so i can take some photos.

You actually liked Uncharted enough to play it again?  I still don't feel the combat but the presentation elements make the game kinda fun.  The random barrels and bullet sidestepping are lol-worthy for a supposed groundbreaking game.

I enjoyed the platforming elements even though they take almost no skill.  The feats of agility are just fun to watch.  It's odd that Drake is doing something incredibly difficult yet it's so easy to pull it off.  I think the game would have been a lot more fun if it had required about as much skill as a POP game.  For all the complaining about the WII, the PS3 games seem to get ever closer to being games for casuals.

You are no bother at all. I like how you express yourself.

Anyway - I agree with what you say - but remember, I never play games on PC - so SOCOM and now the large scale online Resistance are the first times I have had experiences like that.

I imagine I would see things differently if I played PC games.

You're probably the only one on the Super Rub a Dub leaderboard.

Super Rub a Dub is for the distinguished mentally-challenged and homeless.  But not the distinguished mentally-challenged homeless.  That's what Flow is for.

Just finished Uncharted. I really enjoyed it, there's some real potential with the IP for a nice franchise, running all over the world in search of myths and legends. And, can I just say yay for short games? Well, yay for short games! I've actually beat two games in the last week or so (Call of Duty 4 and Uncharted), I can't remember the last I did that!

Now it's time to really start Assassin's Creed.

The mobile suit selection in that game is insane...pretty much everything you'd ever want except the suits from Victory. Climax U.C...I sincerely hope it gets a next-gen sequel.

Just Mass Effect, Tomb Raider Anniversary (PSP) and Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes this past week, with some Wii Fit if you want to count that too.

CoD4, U R MR GAY, Assassin's Creed, PGR4, Orange Box, Dynasty Warriors 6, and several other titles are just sitting there gathering dust now.  I'll certainly get to them when I clear Mass Effect at least.  I wonder if I'll ever get to Orange Box; I am just not feeling Valve's games.  PGR4 may unfortunately become the latest victim in "unplayed trade-in fodder."

I played that demo, it's horrible.  Luckily I played the xbox version of the singleplayer so I knew what to expect.  The combat is really well done and while the levels are linear, they have a CRAPLOAD of ways for you to go through them.  Some people complain that they get seen too easily through the foliage but that only happens if they're 5 feet away or if you're crouching (not crawling).  The enemies are very smart though (they'll take cover and flank) so you have to use stealth to thin them out a little.  Works very well with the level design.
